NEW STATION IN ST: FRONTIER FLEET BY BRAM PEETERS
=================================================================
Recently a new dutys tation has opened in Star Trek: Frontier Fleet,
namely Pandora Station.
Pandora Station used to be a civilian Federation space station, but
this changed during the Dominion War. Starfleet needed more starbases
to defend the center of Federation territory against Dominion
attacks, and Starfleet also needed more repair facilities for ships
damaged in battle. In 2374 Pandora Station was equipped with better
defensive systems, new computer systems and the docking area was
transformed into a repair facility.
When the Dominion war was over, Starfleet remained on Pandora, and
the
station is now used for research, and also refits of smaller vessels.
Most of the time only small refits are done at Pandora, but at the
moment the Prometheus class USS Epimetheus is refitted with a
transwarp drive.
Also present on the station is a prototype AI. This fully sentient
and
self-aware program was designed at Jupiter Station to enhance the
Federation's ship, base and station computers with a more developed
artificial intelligence, and is now being tested on Pandora Station.

USS ODYSSEY LOG BY GUIDO DORSSERS, BRAM PEETERS, & MERIJN DONDERS
=================================================================
=/\= 2390.9.26 =/\=
While the Odyssey was on her way to Alc'Traz, the ship suddenly
dropped out of warp for a second. This had been caused by an
undetected glitch in a secondary system, which escalated into a
malfunction in the main warp core command systems, and began
initiating a shutdown, according to Engineering Officer Reynold.
A few moments later Reynold arrived in Sickbay with crewman Nusselt,
who had hit his head. It's unknown if this is related in any way with
the short failure in the warp drive.
Some time later there was another medical problem. Ensign Taine
transported himself to Sickbay, with his guide-dog, or wolf, TamTam,
which had a fever and had to spend a day in sickbay.
Around 1515 the peace on the Odyssey was disturbed again, this time
by a ship wide holographic simulation, called Rockey King. Crewman
Sanka reported to have been hit by a large rock in a corridor near
his quarters, and ensign Reynold called the bridge about a knight in
Main Engineering. There also were several reports about a horse and a
motorbike. The simulation turned out to be started by Toad, who was
running around claiming to be on a quest to find the Holy Grail.
At 1725 the Odyssey arrived at the planet Alc'Traz and entered
standard orbit while masking the ship for the aliens satellite
network. After some preparations, including cosmetic surgery to look
like Trazzers, an away team, Cmdr Janssens, Lt Sarin, Lt's Jg Victory
and Candy, Ensigns Denebris, Johnson, Meyers and Lucinda, flew to
Alc'Traz with the Atlantic. When they had just left and were entering
the Trazzite atmosphere, there was an explosion on the Odyssey caused
by an an EPS rupture on deck 8.
The explosion attracted the Ferengi to the rescue site and the
Odyssey had to keep them from going down to Alc'Traz too. Apparently
they thought to have discovered some valuable minerals. However,
Alc'Traz was located in UFP territory and the Prime Directive forbid
access to it.
At 1923 the flyer Atlantic was set down on Alc'Traz and the away team
got split up in two teams. The first team, consisting of Sarin,
Candy, Johnson and Meyers stayed at the Atlantic in order to improve
scanners and communication. The second team, consisting of Janssens,
Victory, Denebris and Lucinda left the Atlantic in order to
investigate the Venator's crash site.
While Sarin and Candy were working on the scanners, Johnson and
Meyers were standing guard and checking the flyer's perimeter. The
two officers inside the Atlantic came up with the idea to uplink the
flyers sensors to the alien satellite network. In the meanwhile
Johnson had discovered a dog in the vicinity of the Atlantic, which
inspired Johnson and Meyers to take a look around. The radon
particles in the atmosphere seemed to have their effect on
Meyers, who forgot to take his inoculation. Meyers got scared by the
sight of a few Trazzers and made a run for it.
The second team encountered a Trazzer of their own after a bit of a
walk, a young boy named Beh'Lo. The team had a short conversation
with this rather scared individual and after a communication of , the
flyer about Meyers' situation, the team decided that it would be best
to take Beh'Lo back with them to the flyer. Once they got there the
scanners had already been fixed and they were ready to uplink it to
the Odyssey.
When Meyers suddenly showed up on the sensors, he was being chased by
a Trazzer, Candy suggested to beam Meyers directly to the Odyssey
through the alien network. This however fused several wires in the
alien satellites, due to the huge amount of information traffic, and
another transport wasn't able anymore. Not long after that, the
location of the two survivors was discovered. The pilot, a certain
Logan Ghat, did not show up on the scanners, but Candy hacked the
alien database which showed him to be 300 meters under the ground in
an alien prison. The doctor however suddenly showed up on the
scanners, not far from a group of Trazzers.
The away team was again split up, this time in three teams. One team,
consisting of Commander Janssens and Lt. Sarin, was going to rescue
the doctor, while Lucinda was staying behind to stand guard on the
Atlantic and Beh'Lo. The rest of the away team, minus Meyers, was to
try and rescue the pilot from the underground prison. When both teams
had left the Atlantic, Beh'Lo didn't seem to agree with the way he
was left behind. The young boy grabbed a branch of a tree and knocked
Lucinda out with it. He then followed the biggest team, as this was
also the way towards his village.
Janssens and Sarin ran into Dr. Teral rather fast around 2145, but
she
seemed to be unable to cope with the situation and the two weren't
able to reason with her. Teral Nadya started to scream, which alerted
the Trazzer team nearby. Sarin took the initiative and used his
Vulcan nerve pinch to calm down Teral. He then threw her over his
shoulder and Janssens and Sarin ran towards the Atlantic, being
chased by a Trazzer team....
The other team had quite a hike towards the entrance of the cave.
After discovering Beh'Lo the team entered the caves just before 2200,
taking Beh'Lo with them. A little way into the cave the team
encountered a small problem as the cave was blocked by a green rock.
Since there was no other way in and thus no other way to rescue the
pilot, the team decided to blow up the rock by using their phasers.
Once the rock was out of their way, the team and Beh'Lo went further
into the cave....
In the meantime, in an holodeck simulation, created by Mariell
Delari:
Mariell and Pierre Dubois are racing for victory in a man to women
contest of swimming. Mariell won, although it's not yet clear whether
Pierre did this to gain something with Mariell. Dizzel accompanied
the two in the quest for affection. Toad, Mario and Luigi Capretti
were playing in the water, while Vrass and Greg were talking to Prof.
Ciat. There was also some arguing heard between a medical and a
security crewman, who were fighting over a woman.

USS VALKYRIE, EPISODE III: "A CREW IS TESTED"
(2390.09.16) BY IAN BEACOCK
=================================================================
The simulation was over. After a grueling night, just after midnight,
it was ended, and officers returned to their beds for some sleep
before the next day began.
The next day, however, would start with equal excitement. Ender
Durron(Ian), the fugitive at large and the one largely blamed for the
destruction of the Arakov, returned aboard a small passenger ship,
the Gertrude. New evidence had come to light, which negated the
previous charges against the Lieutenant. He cheerfully was reinstated
with both position and rank, while the Gertrude took off for more
business.
Shortly before the 1100 senior staff meeting, however, disaster
struck. The first of many events that would test the crew this
morning. The Captain, Rylie Tir(Clare), collapsed, leaving the crew
disoriented. She was taken immediately to Sickbay, and still remains
unconscious and under observation.
It was up to Commander Harris(Aaron) to continue on. He began the
senior staff meeting and explained their next mission. It would be a
diplomatic effort, in an attempt to defuse a potentially very violent
conflict between two races: The Cantellans and the Mikelssans.
There was an area of space, the 'Border Zone', that both sides had
claimed was theirs. When an agreement could not be reached, both
worlds had massed their biggest fleets and were prepared for war.
That was where the USS Valkyrie came in. They immediately positioned
themselves in between the fleets, and beamed diplomatic teams to the
flagships of each fleet.
Heading for the Cantellan flagship would be Counselor Mishbano(Katy),
ASTC York(Dreamer), and Security Crewman Blanks(Liz). The Mikelssan
team would consist of CSO Maiek(Brandon), Security Crewman
Eron(Clare), and AJAG Stewart(Liz).
While both flagship's shields were down to await the teams, four of
the Cantellan's ships made a breakaway action. The target: the
Mikelssan flagship.
Before this could be carried out, however, the Valkyrie used the
knowledge of their time traveling visitor, Mr. Bjorn
Eresford(Adrian). Using 31st century technology, the Valkryie found
the Cantellan's shield frequency and fired a phaser blast directly
through. This caused the aliens to think twice, and negotiations
began.
Some time during the difficult negotiations, however, another event
would rock the crew of the Valkyrie. Commander Harris received an
important message from Admiral Pascal at Starfleet Headquarters. He
learned of a new StarFleet Station being set up: Pandora Station. A
few crew members were reassigned to the station. Commander
Kroynian(Frank), and the two Mishbanos(Katy) were to be sent
immediately.
Harris had no choice but to recall Mishbano from the diplomatic
mission (sending her assistant, Ensign Bartlett), and send the
transferees off on a shuttle for the Pandora.
And yet another crew member would be unable to perform. Mr.
Freeman(David) left the bridge with an excruciating headache, and is
still undergoing observation in Sickbay.
But this was not to be all occurring on the Valkyrie. Two gremlins
were seen in Sickbay, knocking things over, but before they could be
apprehended, they escaped to Main Engineering, where the havoc
continued...
This will indeed prove to be a monumental time for the young crew of
the USS Valkyrie as they continue their struggle for justice in the
'Border Zone'...

TALES FROM THE CALHOUN AND DELTA ONE BY ADRIAN RODD
=================================================================
It could have been a day to rejoice, here on Delta One. Even as I
write these lines, glancing out of the view port in my quarters, I
can see the majestic USS Calhoun slowly approaching the station. Ship
and starbase are to be reunited at last. Already, I am sure
Commanders Logix and Su are greeting each other, and many people on
board the Calhoun are doubtless pleased to be home. . .
It could have been a day to rejoice, I said. But bad news overshadows
the good. Lieutenants Summers and Trissay are still missing, and our
every attempt to rescue them has failed. The mysterious, aquatic
aliens have moved their numerous ships away from Delta One slightly,
but they still prevent us from going in pursuit of our crewmates’
Kazon abductors.
Now however, with the return of the Calhoun, we may just be able to
force our way through the blockade. Time will tell. . .
On a more positive note, the skeleton crew of the Calhoun suffered no
fatalities during their stay in the Alpha Quadrant, despite the
outbreak of a highly dangerous illness on board. Simultaneously, a
strange plot against Commander Logix likewise failed, although
Lieutenant Holmes was wounded and fell for a while into a coma. . .
Ensigns Tolqu and Hart did their jobs, and thwarted the plot before
it could get nasty.
I’m looking out of the view port again; the Calhoun has moved very
close now. I imagine the new personnel, for whom this will be their
first stay in the Delta Quadrant, are impatient to come on board the
station. Add to that the presence of a fair number of diplomats, and
this station is probably going to become a very lively place. . .
Oh, just one additional note. The crew have arrived on board now, and
it seems romance has blossomed between Ensigns Tymm and MacCumail.
Also, the word has got around the station that our Captain is
expecting a baby. The father is still somewhere in the Alpha
Quadrant, apparently. Ah well, things aren’t so bad here after all. .
.
I just hope we can rescue our two missing crewmates soon, and that
things will begin to calm down.
But this is the Calhoun we’re talking about. . . She’ll find some
way, I’m sure, of reminding us how she earned her nickname. The Ship
of the Doomed. . .
More to come next month, if we haven’t crashed or blown ourselves up
by then. . . ;)

PANDY STATION BY MIKE SMITH
=================================================================
Preparations are being made for the arrival of the Odyssey at the
Station. Whether it be AI, or whining teenagers, there's something
going on. The news of a party is spreading like a plague. With
Commodore DeGroot leaving at Captain Janssens arriving, and becoming
the station's new CO, it should be a grand event. Well, there aren't
any promotions, demotions, deaths or outgoing transfers. The station
is getting on new officer, well on top of all the other new officers,
but it is AOPS Ensign Darksage, played by Kelvin Mawer.
The Station has 5 PC and 5 SPC. Vacancies this month go: CONN,
(A)OPS, (A)STC, (A)CEO 2x, (A)CMO 2x, Head Nurse, ACOUNS, and (A)CSO
2x. Which is understandable, but still needs some more! Posts this
month are rather good considering it has just recently opened, but
Pandy got 17 outstanding posts. Oh, and hi, I'm Ensign Ryaanax of the
Pandy Station, one of the correspondents on the station.
=================================================================
Space, the final frontier. Or is it? In a remote corner of the Alpha
Quadrant, a new and unique project has been started. Here, in the
distant Bel System we find a new type of star base, one unlike ever
seen before. This star base, wielding the codename 'Maelstrom',
utilizes the sun's power to create a rift in space, a vortex much
alike a wormhole, for a brief period of time, allowing whatever
passes through it to travel to any part of the galaxy, or even to
distant galaxies. These stories follow the adventures of its crew as
they travel towards new destinations, meeting new friends and
encountering new foes. These are the adventurers of the Star Gate.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
PREVIOUSLY:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
David Rolans, a young StarFleet officer, has recently been promoted
to command the star base that goes by the codename of "Maelstrom."
The young commanding officer knows little more about it than the
station's name and is taken there by the enigmatic Captain Black.
After following the captain through a stable wormhole he discovers
what Maelstrom really is: A very large starbase, engineered specially
to generate a stable wormhole.
Then Rolans makes a disturbing discovery: the small moon near the
Maelstrom turns out to be a space station...
===============================================================
PROJECT STAR GATE --- CHAPTER II -- INTRODUCTIONS
(by Mark van der Laan)
===============================================================
"That's no moon," David whispered softly, "It's a space station..."
His instinct told him to get away, but Captain Black contacted him
just then to ease his feelings: "Don't worry, Commander, the White
Star won't harm you. She's a mobile space station and the first thing
we'll send through the Maelstrom-wormhole. It's one of StarFleet's
best kept secrets."
"You mean instead of sending out a starship on exploration, we'll
send that thing?"
"That's what StarFleet has planned," Black confirmed, "Given we
don't know what's out there, StarFleet's decided to send something
large that's capable of both defending and sustain itself. And though
you wouldn't say it by the looks of it, it is capable of reaching
warp speeds."
That alone sounded incredible to David, yet he accepted the fact
nevertheless for now, having more pressing matters at hand - it was
time to enter his new Star Base, explore it and meet his new crew. If
they'd be only half as interesting as the station itself was...
Docking was performed without incident; Both David and Captain
Black's shuttle docked simultaneously, and after disembarking the
newly appointed commander
found himself awaited by his own personal escort consisting of two
humans and a Trill, all three dressed in StarFleet uniforms.
"Greetings, commander," the Trill said, taking a step forward,
"And welcome to Maelstrom. I'm Jagh Ramen, your First Officer for the
time being."
"A pleasure to meet you," David said, shaking the man's hand,
"David
Rolans... And did you say 'for the time being?'"
"Yes, I'll be returning home in a few weeks, personal matters. My
replacement should've arrived by then though."
Jagh gestured for him to follow and they left the docking area,
entering the center ring where they caught up with Captain Black.
"Glad to finally meet you in person, kid," Black said, shaking
David's hand firmly, "How do you like your new station so far?"
"It looks quite sophisticated, but I'd rather see the command post
first."
"That can be arranged," Jagh interrupted, "Please, follow me."
The journey to the command center was a swift one; the walk
towards the center area took up some time, but the state of the art
enhanced turbolift quickly got them to the upper levels of which the
command area consisted. "Commander, allow me to introduce you to your
new crew," Jagh suggested as David studied the room and the people in
it. Jagh went by them one by one...
"The man on the far left is Argol Manck, who'll be in charge of
security."
Argol Manck turned out to be a tall and broad shouldered
Cardassian - not the most logical choice for a security officer,
especially on a special station such as the Maelstrom David realized,
but he was certain StarFleet had its reasons...
Jagh continued, gesturing towards a small bajoran woman 'manning'
the console on the far end of the room: "Anya Maras will be your
science officer. She has experience on graviton fields that will be
most useful to you."
"A pleasure to meet you," Anya stated, curving her lips into an
enigmatic smile.
"The pleasure is all mine," the commander replied politely.
Jagh pointed towards an empty station: "Normally this is where
Daniel Jackson would be, your engineering officer and a terran like
yourself."
"I assume he's got better things to do right now," David assumed.
"Mr. Jackson has just left for the main power core... there were
some minor disruptions when the wormhole closed," a Ferengi near the
door explained unasked.
"And you are..?"
"You should do better research, hoo-man," the Ferengi said
proudly, "If you haven't heard of Doctor Ragg."
"Dr. Ragg is famous amongst Ferengi for his medical skills," Jagh
explained, "That's why StarFleet assigned him here."
David Rolans didn't even reply. An experimental starbase with
god-knows what kind of power source, his security officer a
Cardassian and a Ferengi for a doctor. Boy, did he feel safe now...
And just then somebody paged the bridge and a male voice was
clearly heard: "Jackson to Bridge... I think the central reactor is
sort of going into meltdown..."
Just then the command room automatically went to red alert as the
lights started flashing, accompanied by a loud whining noise which
was quickly silenced by the annoyed Cardassian security officer.
Within seconds Jagh was at the closest console, gathering the
station's status: "He's right. I did an internal sensor sweep on the
entire station, and I sensed a disturbance in the force field..."
'Warning, Central Reactor temperature exceeding maximum tolerance.
Estimated time to meltdown: three minutes.' the computer announced
just then, confirming this.
At that point the command room became completely quiet...
...TO BE CONTINUED...
