HAPPY BIRTHDAY STAR TREK FRONTIER FLEET!!!!!!
====================================================================
This month, Star Trek: Frontier Fleet will be celebrating its second
birthday. It has undergone many changes since the first post was
written on August 26, 2000. Unlike many RPGs, it has not only
survived, it has also flourished. While much of our game’s success
has been due to the wonderful group of players we have, it would be
nothing without our devoted GM, Guido Dorssers. I think one of the
best ways we can observe this anniversary is to take a moment to
thank Guido for all his hard work. So... Thanks Guido, you’re the
best!! :>

PANDORA STATION STATUS REPORT by Bram Peeters
=====================================================================
============
2390.12.06
============
The USS Odyssey arrived at Pandora Station, for shoreleave and to
deliver some new crew for the station. Among this new crew were
Commander Jim Janssens, the station's new Commanding Officer, Ensign
Mike Ryaanax, Pandora's Assistant Security and Tactical Chief, and
Ensign Naragona 104, the new Assistant Chief Science Officer. During
the evening there was a party for Pandora Station's former CO,
Commodore Karl DeGroot, and for the new CO. Due to a fight between
Medical Officer Antar Mishbano and ASTC Ryaanax the party came to an
early end.
============
2390.12.07
============
After several meetings and the arrival of the new Chief Engineer and
Second Officer Lt. Commander Charles Holmes, the CO was having lunch
with his new 2O, Captain Main of the USS Odyssey and Fleet Admiral
Barclay. This lunch was interrupted by a message from sickbay;
someone had attacked First Officer Commander Kroynian, and the FO was
in a coma. At first there was no trace of the offender, but one of
the station's SFI officers found a recording which showed that the FO
of the Odyssey, Lt.Cmdr. Sarin, was in the turbolift together with
Kroynian just before she was attacked.
=====================================================================
USS CALHOUN STATUS REPORT by Rob Verlinden
=====================================================================
Acting Commanding Officer's Log. Stardate 2390.11.16; Commander
Logix.
The USS Calhoun is heading back from the alien planet on which Lt.
Summers and Lt. Trissay were abducted by the Kazon. We were able to
determine their location, with help of Mr. Qar, the ex-Borg who has a
strong bond with Summers. He was very worried about Dawn and launched
a shuttle towards the planet. In this unauthorised attempt he took
Ensign Yarel with him.
I, as FO, assembled several officers and went after them, while the
Calhoun engaged the Kazon ship that was guarding the planet. Captain
Su was severely hurt when a long-range torpedo struck the Calhoun and
damaged the upper decks and the left side of the ship. She is in a
stable coma right now and I think every soul on this ship keeps up
the hope that she will wake up again. When the Captain got hurt,
Ensign Johnathan Hart took command and transferred everything to the
Battle Bridge. I'm impressed by the talents of this officer."
On the planet we were able to find Lt. Summers and Trissay. They were
both injured and surrounded by Kazon. We were able to save them.
Momentarily they are in the Calhoun's Sickbay and will be transferred
to the Station as soon as we reach Delta One. I ordered Qar to be
arrested and to be put in the brig. However ASTC Trunour brought to
my attention that Dawn Summers might need his presence. As an Android
I didn't think about it. He will be judged for insubordination when
Summers is the old one again.
CEO Harris is in charge of the repairs on the Calhoun. I guess we
will need a lot of time after we get back to the Station to bring the
Calhoun into her original condition. The upper decks are a complete
mess and power is low. Fortunately our transwarp-drive is running
perfectly. So getting past the alien blockade has to be a piece of
cake.
=====================================================================
USS ODYSSEY STATUS REPORT by Merijn Donders
=====================================================================
The USS Odyssey is currently docked at Pandora Station.
==============
2390.12.07
==============
The USS Odyssey is still docked at Pandora Station for shore leave.
After the attack on the Station's First Officer, Lieutenant Commander
Kroynian, the Station was locked down. Kroynian is still in a state
of coma while most of the crew are doing their best to find the one
that is responcible for the attack.
Sarin assigned STC Denebris to keep a close watch on Captain Main in
order to keep him safe. Denebris also secured the Odyssey so noone
would be able to enter the vessel without authorisation.
A reconstructed image of a videostream inside the turbolift, showed
that the Odyssey's FO was with Commander Kroynian only moments before
the attack. It was assumed that he was either the attacker, or
someone who knew more then others.
During this same day the new CEO of the USS Odyssey, Lt. jg. Genesis
Opak, came aboard along with a new science officer and his son. The
three were transferred from the USS Valkyrie.
=====================================================================
USS VALKYRIE STATUS REPORT by Clare Bradley
=====================================================================
The Miklessan and Cantellan incident ended when two members of a race
called the J'Ohdah were captured by the crew of the USS Valkyrie.
After interrogation and a medical examination, it was revealed that
the J'Ohdah, who were responsible for sparking the most recent
conflict, were in fact the descendents of both the Miklessans and the
Cantellans. The J'Ohdah also claimed the disputed Border Zone as
their home. The Valkyrie transported the captured J'Ohdah to a nearby
starbase to await trial, and an asylum hearing, while a ship with a
crew more experienced in diplomatic matters was brought in.
On the evening of 2390.11.28, Captain Tir threw a dinner party for
much of the crew. The ship's new counselor, Talia Morgan, arrived
and became acquainted with the crew. After the meal, Captain Tir
announced several promotions.
At around 0800 hours the next day, the crew received a visit from
four very bored Q. Within a half hour they had created an army of
krokets, turned a desk into an elephant, dressed the Captain in a
bikini, turned off the universal translators, turned the First
Officer into a squirrel, and fired him out of a torpedo tube.

THE HISTORY OF JIM JANSSENS by Bram Peeters
=====================================================================
26 August is STFF's official birthday (this has been decided once on
the HQ list... the first post was sent 26 August 2000 or something
like that), but a day earlier Jim Janssens was born when I filled in
the Join form and clicked the Okay button.
This (short) article is about that Jim, and it's only about what Jim
did in Star Trek: Frontier Fleet. I am not going to explain why I
named him Jim Janssens, because I am not sure why I picked that
name...
(Shuttle - entering Earth orbit - 2382.05.10 - 14:05 - Cadet Jim
Janssens)
"How long until we reach the Academy?" Jim asked the pilot.
"We'll be there in about one and a half hour."
(SF Academy - Administration building - 2382.05.10 - 15:39 - Cadet
Janssens)
~Luckily the computer knows the way to the commandants office~ Jim
thought, who arrived 10 minutes ago at the academy. He went on his
way and soon arrived at the office.
He pressed the chime and waited.
"Enter".
Jim entered the office.
"Cadet Jim Janssens reporting for duty, sir"
(Reply Commandant)
That was my first Star Trek: Frontier Fleet post. Written almost 2
years ago, on 26 August 2000, the day after Jim Janssens was 'born'
(the commandant's (Sumek/Clare) reply to my first post had the
subject "Re: Cadet Jim Janssens" BTW...)
Early September Jim was promoted to Ensign and assigned to the USS
Arakov as ACSO. The Arakov's first mission was to go through a
transportation device called a "T'Kon Ring" to the Delta Quadrant, to
deliver some of the crew of the new Starbase Delta One.
This first mission was never finished though, and for several reasons
Clare (GM at that time) decided to abandon the Arakov and Delta One,
to start over with a new ship.
That new ship was the USS Calhoun, launched in November 2000.
Lieutenant (JG) Jim Janssens was the Chief Science Officer of this
new ship. To be honest, this Jim is not the same Jim as the one from
the Arakov, since all events on that ship never happened, and the
Arakov never existed ;) The Calhoun's first mission would be to go to
the Delta Quadrant and make new diplomatic relations. Of course
several things went wrong, but this article is about Jim, not about
the Calhoun's missions. One thing I am going to say is that during
this time there was a period that nobody used headers in their posts,
and the compiles are a bit hard to read that way ;) I don't know
exactly when, but Jim also became Second Officer of the Calhoun and
he was promoted to Lieutenant Commander (probably when Guido became
CO
of the Calhoun)
A CO & GM (Guido became CO & GM) and some time later, June 2001, a
second ship was started. About half of the Calhoun crew transferred
to the USS Odyssey, and Jim became the Odyssey's First Officer and
promoted from Lieutenant Commander to Commander. During the Odyssey's
first mission, the ship travelled to a parallel universe, and we also
met the Jim Janssens from that universe.
A year later (June 2002) Pandora Station was started and Jim became
the station's CO. After a party the first mission of this new station
started, together with the Odyssey crew. If Pandora's CO has time to
finish his status report, you can read more about that mission
elsewhere in this newspaper :)
Or you may be able to read something about it in the Odyssey
report...
Now there is only one thing left to say:
Jim Janssens and Star Trek: Frontier Fleet,
I hope you have a happy second birthday :)
Note: this info is based on the old STFF compiles I got from Guido
(some of them were also available on his website, but he is
reconstructing his site at the moment) and I have not read them ALL,
so if I missed some info about Jim, too bad :)

contestants.
=============
THE GAME
=============
Our contestant will be placed on the Big Brother Freighter for 10
weeks. After the first three weeks the first one will be voted off
till the end, where there will be only two left... It could also be
more.. or less.. but the calculator is malfunctioning so we have no
exact idea.. but we'll give it our best shot... Those two will then
go to the BIG Big Brother Finals to become the 90210's winner of Big
Brother.. the Space edition.
The Freighter has been equipped with a big garden of food and with
only a limited replicator supply, who will be the first to use it..
and will he or she tell the others ? Much of you will remember the
last time when the Nausican ripped the Bolian's spine out for
stealing rations .. what will happen next ? .. tune in next month for
the first episode of.. BIG BROTHER 90210 - The Space Edition !
(Due to this small accident Nausicans have been expelled from the
game. Bolians as well, as they tried to sue us.)
=============
CONTESTANTS
=============
Matilda Burger:
This 31 year-old Science Officer of the USS McChicken is single and
is known for her excellent cooking, but certainly not for her good
looks. How long will this ugly monster stay on our Big Brother
Freighter? Will the contestants vote with their eyes or their
stomachs ? .. who knows ...
Quote: "Love goes through the stomach .... I hope..."
Don Corleone:
This 28 year-old Pilot from the USS Mafia was born and raised on
Sicily, where he was thought the family business and he was expected
to step in his father's footsteps. Whatever you need, he can get for
you. Will he play fair? .. or will he have someone whacked?.. let's
hope for the latter..
Quote: "No weapons? .. damn, there goes my strategy.."
Barf:
This 42 year-old Ferengi is Captain of his own freighter, the
Puworht, and father to 5 children, from who he makes a lot of profit.
He's one of the most respected merchants in this part of the
quadrant. But how respected will he be with camera's on him every
second of the day? Will he show his true colour?
Quote: "Money.. money.. money ..."
Nanu Nanu:
This 23 year-old girl is a Security Officer on the USS Ork and is
well known from her modeling work. She's a known nymphomaniac and is
said to 'eat men for breakfast'. Will she be able to control her
animal instincts? Or will we have to X-rate this game? .. who
knows...
Quote: "There's a camera in my room ???!! .. ow crap..."
K'wack:
This 28 year-old Warrior from the Klingon Warbird R'iver is the
father of a young boy and one of the best warriors in the Klingon
Empire. He absolutely hates Ferengi's and only joined this game as we
promised there would be no Ferengi's... isn't he up for a surprise.
Will the Klingon kill the Ferengi on sight? Or will they learn to
live together? .. lets hope for the first.
Quote: "GRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrr...... "
Cigam:
This 51 year-old Vulcan is the First Officer, with the rank of
Commander, on the USS Hokuspokus. He is known for his card tricks,
but also for his illusions. He hates nothing and likes nothing, just
as we all love from a good Vulcan. Will he stay on the Freighter? Or
will he just make us all think he is?
Quote: "Now you see me... now you don't..."
Hexes Joi:
This 27 year-old Betazoid female is a Civilian on Excelsior Station.
She is known to use her mental abilities just to get on other
people's nerves, which is a good reason for us to have picked her out
of the numerous applicants. Will she get bored of reading other
people's thoughts?.. or will she use her power to make everyone mad
at eachother?
Quote: ~You naughty boy..~ (the reporter ran away when this appeared
in his thoughts)
Muchto Do:
This 25 year-old Engineering Crewman from the USS Quick is a very
busy guy. He's known to always be running about fixing things. When
there's nothing to fix, he'll first break something and then fix it.
The BB Freighter is still in excellent condition (as far as our
budget allowed it). Will Muchto take the Freighter apart and then put
it back together again? Or will he get overly active and just blow
the thing up?
Quote: "Bloody f**kin 9*&)$(*&#$* thing.. Work god damnit !.."
Qwiz:
This, I don't know how old, omnipotent being appeared in our room and
demanded to be let in the game or he would turn us all into squirrels
and fire us out of a torpedo-tube. We have no idea where he picked up
such weird ideas, but we didn't like it and allowed him to join. Will
this Q be nice to our crew? Or will we end up with a Zoo version of
Big Brother?
Quote: *snap* (We have yet to locate our reporter and no second
attempt of an interview has been made)
=============
This concludes our little introduction to Big Brother 90210 - The
Space edition ! We hope you will all tune in next week for our first
episode of mayhem. Will there be more then one episode of this crazy
program? or will we end up blowing up half the quadrant?... who knows
..
See you all next week.
======================================================================
Introduction:
Space, the final frontier. Or is it? In a remote corner of the Alpha
Quadrant, a new and unique project has been started. Here, in the
distant Bel System we find a new type of star base, one unlike ever
seen before. This star base, wielding the codename 'Maelstrom',
utilizes the sun's power to create a rift in space, a vortex much
alike a wormhole, for a brief period of time, allowing whatever
passes through it to travel to any part of the galaxy, or even to
distant galaxies. These stories follow the adventures of its crew as
they travel towards new destinations, meeting new friends and
encountering new foes. These are the adventurers of the Star Gate.
Main Characters:
David Rolans:
Commanding Officer of the Maelstrom. A young terran StarFleet
officer. Though still inexperienced at being in command, he is
anything but naieve.
Captain Black:
Originally asigned to guide Commander Rolans to the Maelstrom, Black
turns out to be more than just an escort, always around to lend a
helping hand.
Jagh Ramen:
A trill with an almost immposible tranquility; Jagh is asigned as
David's first officer and tries to perform that duty at his best
ability.
Argol Manck:
A tall Cardassian with a grumpy attitude; Why exactly he got asigned
to the Maelstorm is still a mystery, but he seems to do his job well
so nobody's really complaining. Argol is in charge of station
security.
Anya Maras:
A bajoran woman who mans the science station; her knowledge seems
varied, and her social skills well developped, even though she can't
stand Manck, for obvious reasons...
Daniel Jackson:
A human in his thirties in charge of engineering. His skills are
average, but his ability to improvise more than makes up for it, and
he's one of the people who helped constructing the Central Reactor
and one of the few who understands it fully.
Doctor Ragg:
A Ferengi as cowardly as they come, yet Ragg's medical skills and
techniques rank among the finest in medical circles.
Previously:
David Rolans, a young StarFleet officer, has recently been promoted
to command the star base that goes by the codename of "Maelstrom."
The young commanding officer knows little more about it than the
station's name and is taken there by the enigmatic Captain Black.
After following the captain through a stable wormhole he discovers
what Maelstrom really is: A very large starbase, engineered specially
to generate a stable wormhole.
The freshly appointed commander and his new staff are quickly faced
with their first crisis when the station's Central Core starts
overloading; luckily, with their combined effort, this disaster is
averted.
But then a cloaked Romulan Warbird is discovered near the station. A
coincidence...? Or more than that..?
===================================================================
Project Star Gate --- Chapter IV --- XXX by Mark van der Laan
===================================================================
For a moment, Commander Rolans was speechless; It was barely visible,
their cloaking device still active, but there was no doubt about it:
positioned a short distance away from the Maelstrom was a Romulan
Warbird.
"Commander... What are we going to do about this?"
The Trill's voice diverted his attention from the blurry Warbird on
screen and he turned around slowly, facing his colleagues. "What kind
of weaponry does this station have?"
"Sir!" the Bajoran, Anya, said, "We can't just fire at them simply
for being here, even though their presense is highly suspicious..!"
"So what?" Argol Manck, the Cardassian chief of security replied,
"They're comitting a hostile action by spying on us, and we have the
right to defend ourselves. Commander, Maelstrom is well-armed to
defend itself if needed."
Anya again opened her mouth to protest, but David silenced her with a
hand gesture: "Enough! I merely asked about the station's weaponry, I
never said we were going to blast them to kingdom come...yet." He
again studied the dangerous looking warship on the main screen. They
only had the advantage as long as the radiation from the power core
was disrupting their cloaking device, but they didn't know that.
Hopefully they would instead think that their cloaking technology was
somehow ineffective, discouraging future spies as well. "Lock all
weapons onto their warp drive and open a channel to the romulan
ship." David commanded.
It was done and though all weapons were locked, the Romulan ship
didn't change its position. "Attention Romulans," Commander Rolans
anounced, "We know you're out there, we can detect you. Your cloak
will not protect you, we can destroy you easily. Depart now, and
never come again or we will open fire. if we see another cloaked ship
here, we will open fire. You have one minute."
There was no reply.
Then, after just a few seconds less than a minute, the Warbird
suddenly decloaked and started moving, turning around and
disappearing into Warp without even communicating with the space
station. For a moment nothing happened, then it powered up its
engines and disappeared on maximum warp. It only took a few minutes
to disappear off the long range sensors.
"I'm glad they didn't call our bluff," David said as he turned around
to face his command staff, uttering a visible sigh of relief.
"What bluff?" Argol grunted, "We have enough firepower to obliterate
them easily."
"And trigger an international conflict," Anya added, "Surely a
Cardassian would understand that the tongue can be mightier than the
sword."
Commander Rolans just rolled his eyes; with a crew like this, his new
position would be a tough one indeed...
* * *
After the Romulan incident, things finally seemed to return to normal
on the Maelstrom, and weeks went by as the station was patched up and
made ready for its first mission... And it didn't take long for that
first mission to come, with the arrival of a starfleet admiral,
Luther Kornokov.
Kornokov became quickly known as The Bald One, Q-Ball and even
Picard's Daddy because of his well, bald head. Nevertheless everyone
was respectfull to the authority he emitted, even the eccentric
command crew of David Rolans behaved well.
"Quite an interesting crew you have, commander," Kornokov remarked
after the doors of David's office had closed behind him.
"They may be a little bit...irregular, but each excels at their own
skill; I'm sure that's why Starfleet selected them."
"Well then," Kornokov replied, "Let's get down to business then shall
we?"
"And what business is it that brings you here, admiral?"
Kornokov smiled as he sat back in an unoccupied chair, folding his
hands over his chest: "I'm here to brief you, commander, about the
Maelstrom's first real mission."
...TO BE CONTINUED...
