USS Calhoun / Delta One Status Report by Adrian Rodd
=====================================================================

The mixed timeline has been set right. The USS Gagarin and the
Klingon ship from the past were tractored back into the rift by
Starfleet shuttles and their Kazon allies (!) just as Delta One
exploded under the combined Cardassian/Romulan assault, and the
Calhoun, under command of Lieutenant-Commander Harris, courageously
set a suicide course to ram one of the Cardassian ships. . .

The rift safely deposited the two vessels in a Delta Quadrant system
back in the 2240s, and the timeline was restored. Not all was
entirely as it had been, however, for the crewmembers who had entered
the rift at some point or another still had memories of the alternate
reality, faint as those memories may be. . .

For now, however, the crew of Delta One and the USS Calhoun can enjoy
shore leave. . . as they wait for the unexpected to strike again. . .

Pandora Station Status Report by Bram Peeters and Merijn Donders
=====================================================================

Stardate 2390.12.07 - 2390.12.08

A team led by CEO Holmes and ASTC Ryaanax went to Engineering to get
back control of the computer and CO Janssens, ACSO Naragona and ASTC
Van Geel went to deck 90 to disable the station's internal sensors.

Janssens' team ran into a group of holo-nazi's on deck 89, who had
taken several crewmembers prisoner, and they had also been torturing
Ensign Reynold from the USS Odyssey.

A few hours later, when the Odyssey was back under control, SFI
officer PO deBont was able to enhance Virt's computer program, and
with help from the Pandora crew Virt was able to force the other AI
into the secondary computer core. Because that core had been isolated
from the rest of the station, the AI posed no more threat and could
be easily removed during the night.

***

Stardate 2391.01.01 - 2391.01.03

The new year started with a promotion; CO Commander Jim Janssens was
promoted to Captain. The next day there were some more promotions: FO
Sarin got a field promotion to Commander, ACSO Naragona was promoted
to Lieutenant JG and CSO, and ASTC Ryaanax was promoted to Lieutenant
JG and STC, and some new crew arrived: AOPS Ensign Cane Thoran and
ASTC Ensign Simon Hawkins.

The Odyssey left on 2391.01.03

Stardate 2391.01.12 - Unknown

Around 1015 a weird energy reading was detected, by a crewman, near
the sixth planet of the Sitol system. Rachell Delari tried to analyse
this reading, but it had already disappeared. As the alien species in
the Sitol system are both pre-warp, Naragona and Delari were dazzled
by this clearly artificial phenomenon. Naragona went to report this
to the CO and FO, who in turn decided that an away team would be send
out to investigate. The away team would be led by Commander Sarin and
he chose Lieutenants Ryaanax and Naragona and Ensign Roberts to join
him on that mission.

USS Valkyrie Status Report by Mark van der Laan
=====================================================================

USS VALKYRIE STATUS REPORT - 2152.05.23 (originally 2391.01.05,
(supplemental))

Trapped in the past, the USS Valkyrie has been engaged by a swarm of
Suliban cell ships. With the help of a passing Starfleet vessel of
that time period, the Discovery NX-03, the Suliban were driven off,
however not before boarding and stealing the Valkyrie's Bottom
Module.

With another segment of the Valkyrie in hot pursuit of the Suliban to
reclaim it, the other segment remains behind to assist the injured
crew of a damged Discovery, an action which could quite likely damage
the timeline beyond repair...

=/\= Captain's Log =/\=

After the eerie events with an evil artificial intelligence aboard
Pandora Station we have been able to have some happy shoreleave.
However, unhappily we got some new orders yesterday, which meant
discontinuing our shoreleave a few days before plan.

We're now en route to Emyn III, a backwater UFP planet. It is on this
planet to Commander Logix, a previous Second Officer on this vessel,
and former First Officer of the USS Calhoun, is stuck. How he got
here is still a mystery. His last known location was the Delta
Quadrant.

Alien Race Contest by Clare Bradley
=====================================================================

This month the Federation Tribune is sponsoring an Alien Race
Contest. The winning race will be featured in an upcoming USS
Valkyrie plot, and earn a place in the Xenology database. To compete,
write up a profile for an original race, and send it to
chiefeditor@frontierfleet.com by December 8, 2002. Your profile
should contain medical, historical, technological, and cultural
information on your race. They can be allies, enemies, or something
in between. Next month’s edition will feature all the submitted
races, and everyone in the fleet will have the chance to vote for the
winner. Good Luck!

                Aquarium Adventures by Bram Peeters
=====================================================================

A long time ago, in an aquarium far, far away:

(USS Odyssey, FO's quarters, Phlox's aquarium - 2390.6.23, 12:01)

Phlox was moving around a bit slowly, and decided that he would swim
around counter clockwise today. He had circled the large stone in the
middle of his territory about three times when he spotted some
movement at the surface. Phlox slowed down and looked up, the
movement has stopped.

~Where did it go?~ he thought, and started swimming a bit higher,
very carefully and staying close to some large leafs. Five minutes
later, there still was no trace of anything that could have caused
the movement he saw, and Phlox decided to go back to deeper water,
and swim some more circles around his stone.

Halfway the second circle he stopped, ~Wait a minute, didn't I
already swim this way around earlier today?~

Phlox turned around, and started swimming around the stone clockwise.

~This is much better, can't swim the same circles all day!~

(USS Odyssey, FO's quarters, Phlox's aquarium - 2390.6.23, 17:22)

The large two-legged airbreather that lived outside his territory had
brought him his dinner again. He had almost eaten everything when he
noticed it. One piece had floated into... into The Corner!

Phlox had only been in The Corner one time; he had just been swimming
around, and he had swum into it, not knowing something was wrong. At
the same moment there had been a lot of noise, and a lot of red
lights had started flashing. Not knowing what to do he had swum into
the solid water that kept the deadly air outside, and he had had a
headache for 4 days. Also the red light with noise had returned a few
times since that day, often followed by periods of darkness, other
flashing lights, loud noises and sometimes violent shaking.

Phlox was certain something was wrong with The Corner... but there
was a piece of food in there, caught in a plant. There had to be a
way to get the food, without getting into The Corner.

He swam from side to side a few times, sometimes looking at the piece
of food in The Corner, thinking about what he could do. Suddenly he
got an idea. He approached The Corner, but he didn't cross the border
which was indicated by the Purple Pebble. Phlox turned around, so his
tail was facing the plant with the food. He started swinging his tail
violently, and he used his other fins to stay at the same location.
After a while, he stopped, and looked at the result of his actions.

It had worked! The piece of food was freed from the grip of the
Corner
Plant, but it still floated behind the PPB (Purple Pebble Border).

~Phlox, you coward...~ Phlox thought, ~Just get that piece of food,
show The Corner who's boss around here!~

~May the Great Fish protect me~ he thought, and gathered as much
speed as possible. As swift as an arrow he darted over the PPB into
The Corner. He grabbed the food, and rushed back into the safe area
on the other side of the PPB.

~It's one small swim for a fish...~ he thought, while he was eating
the last piece of his dinner.

                     Trek Tech by Michael Smith
=====================================================================

Alright, this month, unlike the past months isn't going to be a
modern day technology featured in Startrek. This month is going to be
a new fictional technology, that could be invented. Please write me
an e-mail, and tell me what you think of the device, and if people
like it, I will submit is to the Frontier Fleet HQ for posible
aproval.

Section: Tactical
Sub-Section: Defensive Systems
Technology: Nano-Sealers
Position: Hull of Starships and bases
Systems: Deflector, EPS, Power, Structual integrity
Background: After several large skermishes, Starfleet
realized the need for better defensive systems, and with new borg
technology, and advancing federation technology, the concept of
Nano-Sealers was born.
Overview: The concept is quite simple. These devices are
installed all throught the hull of the ship or base. They are tied
directled into the EPS, and power systems, and link directly to the
Bridge, more specifically the tactical systems. The technology has
two primary pourposes. One is to, automatically despence a
federation-modified nanoprobe, and seal damages from micro-fractors
to wide spread breaches. This modified nanoprobes work like a dermal
regenerater, except its on a hull. The secoundary pourpose of this
device is to act as a back-up deflector, to add more power to one
section of sheilds. To have this devices functoning as a primary
source of power for the sheild is not a posibility, but if there was
a section in the port, aft section of a ship's shields, several of
these devices coould work together to temporarily reestablish
sheilding in that section.
Several tests have proved that these back-up genorates do help
some in the instant were there wouldn't be any shields, but to have
all these devices working at the same time would coase a ship wide
blow out, as well as a quite weak sheild.

Notes: This device is still in the testing phase, in now way is this
device 100% tested, and cleared. I diagram of this object can be
found at: http://hometown.aol.com/mryaanax/znano-sealers.html

Please send any comments about this new device to M Ryaanax@aol.com

Project Stargate by Mark van der Laan
=====================================================================

Introduction
Space, the final frontier. Or is it? In a remote corner of the Alpha
Quadrant, a new and unique project has been started. Here, in the
distant Bel System we find a new type of star base, one unlike ever
seen before. This star base, wielding the codename 'Maelstrom',
utilizes the sun's power to create a rift in space, a vortex much
alike a wormhole, for a brief period of time, allowing whatever
passes through it to travel to any part of the galaxy, or even to
distant galaxies. However when something goes wrong, the station and
its crew accidentally get transported to a distant galaxy. These
stories follow the adventures of its crew as they travel towards new
destinations, meeting new friends and encountering new foes, hoping
that their next teleportation will lead them home. These are the
adventurers of the Star Gate.

 Main Characters
David Rolans:
Commanding Officer of the Maelstrom. A young terran StarFleet
officer. Though still inexperienced at being in command, he is
anything but naive.

Captain Black:
Originally assigned to guide Commander Rolans to the Maelstrom, Black
turns out to be more than just an escort, always around to lend a
helping hand.

Jagh Ramen:
A trill with an almost impossible tranquillity; Jagh is assigned as
David's first officer and tries to perform that duty at his best
ability.

Argol Manck:
A tall Cardassian with a grumpy attitude; Why exactly he got assigned
to the Maelstorm is still a mystery, but he seems to do his job well
so nobody's really complaining. Argol is in charge of station
security.

Anya Maras:
A bajoran woman who mans the science station; her knowledge seems
varied, and her social skills well developed, even though she can't
stand Manck, for obvious reasons...

Daniel Jackson:
A human in his thirties in charge of engineering. His skills are
average, but his ability to improvise more than makes up for it, and
he's one of the people who helped constructing the Central Reactor
and one of the few who understands it fully.

Doctor Ragg:
A Ferengi as cowardly as they come, yet Ragg's medical skills and
techniques rank among the finest in medical circles.

romulan:
(name unknown)

 Previously:
David Rolans, a young StarFleet officer, has recently been promoted
to command the star base that goes by the codename of "Maelstrom."
The young commanding officer knows little more about it than the
station's name and is taken there by the enigmatic Captain Black.

After following the captain through a stable wormhole he discovers
what Maelstrom really is: A very large starbase, engineered specially
to generate a stable wormhole.

The freshly appointed commander and his new staff are faced with
several problems shortly after Rolans' arrival, but they pull through
and the starbase prepares for its first official mission...

However a Romulan intruder manages to sabotage the station, causing
an overload in the main reactor, resulting in the entire station
being transported to a new, unknown destination.

Luckily they arrived near an M-class planet which, though it was
still in a pre-warp state, had some traces of a more advanced
culture. Hoping to find out more, a small away team beamed down to
investigate the planet, only to end up in the middle of what the
locals described as The Visiting.
Expecting to meet a more advanced life form, the crew responded quite
surprised when the arriving guest turned out more different than they
had expected...

Project Star Gate --- Chapter VII --- 'What, The Devil? '
                  by Mark van der Laan

There, standing in the centre was a single being. The being was
remarkably humanoid, sharing the same type of skin, but also larger
in size, measuring approximately three metres in height. Whatever
clothes he was wearing were concealed from view by a large, heavy
robe as black as the night that covered his entire body, save his
face. The figure looked male, and human, his face decorated by a well
trimmed black goatee. on his head he wore a dark crimson cap, and
from both sides of the cap, two small red horns were visible, of the
same red colour. David Rolans recognized this creature instantly.

It was the devil.

"People," David whispered, "Please, tell me what you see out
there..."

"...The devil..." the Extras whispered.

"...Pah Wraith..." Argol muttered, his face grown pale.

"...lawyer..." Ragg mumbled.

They didn't get the time to discuss their situation, because at that
time the alien entity started to speak, his voice booming through the
entire city: "People! Mortals! Rejoice, for The Visiting is once
again at hand! Like always, I have come to bless you with the
glorious gift of Sihn to better your lives. As per usual, I await the
coming of fifty volunteers to sign The Contract."

"However," the alien suddenly said, looking directly at the away
team, "First, it seems we have some visitors to welcome."

There was a bright flash, forcing the away team to shield their eyes.
When light returned to normal, they realized they were standing in
the clearing, directly in front of the devil who looked even more
overwhelming now, towering over them. He looked them over one by one,
an amused twinkle in his eyes: "Human... Cardassian... Ferengi... You
are a long way from home."

"I am David Rolans, Commander of the starbase Maelstrom. We've
stranded here by accident and..."

"Silence, human," the alien replied, "You do not belong here, you
should not have come here, so how dare you defile my Visiting with
your presence?"

"Why don't you drop the attitude and tell us who you are?" Deuxieme
Extra piped up suddenly, boldly stepping forward.

"Who are you, human?"

"I am Deuxieme Extra," the girl bravely stated, "And I asked you a
question!"

"Well, well, so you did," the 'devil' replied amused, a long slender
arm appearing from underneath his black robes to play with his
goatee, "Well then, Miss Extra... You do know what happens to Extras
on Star Trek, don't you..?"

He snapped his fingers and Deuxieme burst into green flames, then
disintegrated completely, nothing remaining of her but a pile of
smoking ashes.
Argol responded immediately, drawing his phaser and firing at the
alien. However instead of killing it, the beam dispersed on an unseen
barrier.

"Careful, Cardassian," the alien said, waving his hand at him. An
invisible force knocked Argol off his feet, causing him to land on
top of the Ferengi doctor. "You are no Extra, but I'm willing to make
an exception."

"Strike me down now and I'll come back more powerful than you could
possibly imagine," the Cardassian threatened.

"Keep sitting on top of me and I'll ram something up your posterior
more painful than you could possibly imagine," Ragg growled from
under him.

"I believe we were stuck with introductions," the alien said,
ignoring the idle threats, "I have many names... Mr Satan, Beelzebub,
Bob... You can simply refer to me as Lord Dubayah of the Fourth
Circle."

"What are you going to do with us?" Primus Extra shouted, still
shocked by the loss of his sister.

"Ah, it seems I missed an Extra," Dubayah said cheerfully and snapped
his fingers again. Primus turned into an egg, hovered in mid-air for
a few seconds more, then fell to pieces on the floor.
At this point, David realized something had to be done, tapping his
comm badge while the devil was distracted. "Maelstrom, do you copy?"

=/\= Go ahead, commander. =/\= came the voice of his first officer,
Jagh Ramen.

"If you activate your sensors, you'll notice an alien entity several
feet away from us. When I tell you, I'd like you to blast it to
kingdom come with a photon torpedo salvo."

=/\= Understood, commander. =/\=

"Tell me something, Dubayah," David addressed the alien, "How come
that we're meeting you, millions of light years away from home, yet
your resemblance seems to be akin to that in terran, Cardassian, even
Ferengi history?"

That," Dubayah grinned, waving his finger at the commander, "is a
secret, I'm afraid. Besides, that knowledge will do you no good,
since you'll die now anyways."

David tapped his badge again: "Jagh, now! Fire!"

The diabolical alien looked at his surprised and produced something
like a hiss, then his gaze shot upwards where two red dots became
visible, falling down from the skies.

"Take cover!" David shouted, and they did, both the away team and the
people gathered around taking their distance from the alien and
hiding behind whatever they could find.

And then the torpedoes came down, impacting on top of Dubayah and
effectively destroying half the town square, leaving nothing but a
deep crater and a large pillar of smoke.
The away team was the first to come out again, to inspect the damage
they'd done, with the villagers still hiding away out of fright of
being struck down as well.

=/\= Maelstrom to Commander Rolans. =/\=

"David here."

=/\= A ship just decloaked in orbit around the planet. It seems
they're powering up their engines to depart. =/\=

"Beam us back aboard, Jagh. We can't let them escape, they have the
technology to bring us back home!"

=/\= Sir, you're in the middle of a town of a pre-warp civilization.
Do you know how much directives you would break? Do you know how much
were broken when we fired on the planet? =/\=

"I know, it's of later concern," David replied, "And don't worry, the
natives are too scared to come out, no one will see us depart."

=/\= Very well, Sir. =/\=

Several minutes they were back on board and in the Command Room, each
taking their station, arriving just in time to see the alien ship,
just before it disappeared completely and without a trace.

"Where did it go?" Jagh asked, puzzled, "Did it cloak?"

"No," Anya replied, "They somehow teleported their entire ship.
They're gone, Sir."
