USS Valkyrie Status Report by Mark van der Laan
====================================================================
USS VALKYRIE STATUS REPORT - 2152.05.23 (originally 2391.01.05,
(supplemental))
Still trapped in the past, the USS Valkyrie has managed to chase off
the Suliban and recover the ship's bottom module that they had
stolen. After seeing off the Discovery NX-03, the ship was
succesfully able to return to their own time period (2391), with the
help of Ensign Eresford's knowledge of temporal mechanics.
USS VALKYRIE STATUS REPORT - 2391.01.05:
After re-creating a wormhole back to their own time period – and
erasing all data accumulated to preserve the timeline - the Valkyrie
had a rendez-vous with the USS Resolute, under the command of Admiral
Uhiro. Uhiro's visit resulted in two important changes aboard the
Valkyrie: First of all, there was the promotion of several officers.
Secondly, the admiral officially re-assigned Captain Rylie Tir and
First Officer Trudeau under his command on the Resolute. Replacing
the first officer is the recently promoted Commander Dal.
The Resolute departed, leaving the Valkyrie with orders to return to
Jupiter Station to repair the areas damaged during the Suliban
incident. Jacon Dal has been ordered to travel to earth to rendezvous
and escort the ship's new captain.

USS Calhoun/Delta One Status Report by Adrian Rodd
====================================================================
Having received a panic-filled distress call from the shuttle Icarus,
the USS Calhoun proceeded to the unnamed planet the shuttle had been
gathering readings from. There, the Icarus was found adrift, its hull
breached. Images retrieved from inside the shuttle indicated the
crewmembers had actually attacked each other before blasting a hole
into the hull. . .
An away team sent to the shuttle suffered severe hallucinations,
causing them to turn on each other viciously, and resulting in the
death of one officer.
Little by little, the crew - unaware at first that they had been
subjected to hallucinations - pieced together the clues of the
horrific puzzle, but still the causes remained unknown.
Several crewmembers shuttled down to the surface in search of answers
and possible survivors from the four-person Icarus team. On the
planet, the hallucinations returned, vivid as ever - until Commander
Summers and Lieutenant Hart uncovered a vast underground cavern
containing thousands of active stasis pods. Within them floated
humanoid beings from a species never before encountered. It was the
same cavern the Captain had seen in one of her hallucinations.
>From the barely conscious telepathic contact the aliens were
projecting, Summers learnt of their history. They were Algorians, a
telepathic species, and had shared the planet with another species,
the Thelodians, until they fell prey to an incurable disease, and
chose to go into stasis while waiting for the Thelodians to develop a
cure. Unfortunately, the latter destroyed themselves in a series of
cataclysmic wars, and the Algorians slept in the stasis tubes for
centuries thereafter.
Some Thelodians had survived, fleeing belowground, but were unable to
find a cure for the Algorians.
Meanwhile, the sleeping aliens unknowingly began feeding off the
dreams and nightmares of all beings approaching the planet,
unconsciously creating hallucinations, resulting in the destruction
of any ship that came near. The Thelodians, deep below ground, were
shielded, but could not approach the stasis tubes.
The Thelodians made contact with the Starfleet away team, and
informed them they had found a survivor from the Icarus, Ensign
Davis, and nursed her back to health.

Trek Trivia by Mike Smith
====================================================================
Ok folks of Frontier Fleet, sorry about last month's absence, some
family issues kept me from writing any of my articles, but I'm back
this month for the results of the close competition, and to deliver
some sad news. For now this will be the last trek trivia article.
This is because the two times I've done this, I've only gotten 2
responses each. Until the demand for another trivia comes out, this
is it.
Here are the Questions and Answers from last month:
WW3 Started in what year?
2053
The first season of TOS took place in what year? (on the show, not
real life)
2266
The UFP was established in what year? What Happened first, Tuvok
resigning from Starfleet, or Picard graduating the Academy?
Tuvok Resigning
Who is older, Harry Kim, or Annika Hansen (7 of 9)?
Annika Hansen
In what season of ST: DS9 was the USS Voyager lost in the badlands?
3rd
What year did the Q first make contact with Humans?
2364
What Color is Romulan Ale?
Light Blue
What is the Bolians native Home world?
Bolarus IX
Are the Andorians Part of the UFP?
Yes
The Academy Commandant in 2372 was Admiral Leyton, What is his
Species?
Bolian
The two contestants were Bram, and Merijn. They both got 9 correct.
Congrats! However, this does create a complication in declaring a
winner. So, these two were both asked 2 more, additional trivia
questions.
These Questions Were:
When was the Borg Queen Command Ship First Encountered?
2375
What is DS9's circumference in Meters?
4561.03
>From this, Merijn got the first question correct and was 1114.703
meters from the correct answer on the second question. Bram also got
the first question correct and so it boiled down to who was closer to
the actual circumference of DS9. So I will now congratulate Bram who
was only .003 meters of the actual circumference of the station!!!
Nice job to both of you!
So this will be the last edition of trek trivia, unless you want to
write me an e-mail saying how much you loved it...<G> and then it
might come back.
Happy Reading!

Lord of the Console by Bram Peeters
====================================================================
PROLOGUE
It began with the construction of the Great Consoles.
Three were given to the Vulcans: Pointy eared, green blooded and most
logical of all beings. Seven to the Andorians: Great warriors from
the planet Andoria. And nine, nine Consoles to the race of Humans,
who, above else, desire power. For within these Consoles was bound
the will and power to govern each race, But they were, all of them,
deceived; for another Console was made...
Near the planet Mordor, in the docks of Starbase Doom, aboard the
Battlestar Sauron, the Dark Lord Sidious built, in secret, a master
Console. And into this Console he poured his cruelty, his malice and
his will to dominate all life.
One Console to control them all.
The evil Fleet of Mordor assembled and moved forth. One by one, the
free planets of the Alpha Quadrant fell to the power of the Console,
but there were some who resisted. A Last Alliance of Humans and
Vulcans assembled a fleet to battle the fleet of Mordor. And in orbit
of the planet Mordor, they fought for the freedom of the quadrant.
Victory was near, but the power of the Console could not be undone.
The Battlestar Sauron appeared and it destroyed the USS Elendil and
it was in this moment, when all hope had faded, that the USS Isildur
made a final attack on the Sauron, and separated the command module
from the rest of the battlestar. The ship exploded and Sidious, enemy
of the free races of the Alpha Quadrant, was defeated.
The Console was beamed aboard the USS Isildur, whose captain had this
one chance to destroy evil forever, but the hearts of Humans are
easily corrupted, and the Console of power has a will of its own. It
betrayed the crew of the Isildur to her death, and some things, that
should not have been forgotten, were lost...
History became legend, legend became myth, and for two-and-a-half
thousand years, the Console passed out of all knowledge.
Until, when chance came, it ensnared a new bearer. The console came
to the starship Gollum, which took it deep into a nebula in the Misty
Sector. For five hundred years, it poisoned her crew, and in the
gloom of the nebula, it waited.
Darkness crept back into the planets of the quadrant.
Rumour grew of a shadow in the East, whispers of a nameless fear...
And the Console of power perceived: its time had now come.
It abandoned the Gollum.
But something happened then, the console did not intend.
It was picked up by the most unlikely ship imaginable:
The USS Baggins, a Hobbit class runabout from Shire Station.

Project Star Gate --- Chapter VIII --- 'A new hope'
by Mark van der Laan
====================================================================
Introduction
Space, the final frontier. Or is it? In a remote corner of the Alpha
Quadrant, a new and unique project has been started. Here, in the
distant Bel System we find a new type of star base, one unlike ever
seen before. This star base, wielding the codename 'Maelstrom',
utilizes the sun's power to create a rift in space, a vortex much
alike a wormhole, for a brief period of time, allowing whatever
passes through it to travel to any part of the galaxy, or even to
distant galaxies. However when something goes wrong, the station and
its crew accidentally get transported to a distant galaxy. These
stories follow the adventures of its crew as they travel towards new
destinations, meeting new friends and encountering new foes, hoping
that their next teleportation will lead them home. These are the
adventurers of the Star Gate.
Main Characters
David Rolans:
Commanding Officer of the Maelstrom. A young terran StarFleet
officer. Though still inexperienced at being in command, he is
anything but naive.
Captain Black:
Originally assigned to guide Commander Rolans to the Maelstrom, Black
turns out to be more than just an escort, always around to lend a
helping hand.
Jagh Ramen:
A trill with an almost impossible tranquillity; Jagh is assigned as
David's first officer and tries to perform that duty at his best
ability.
Argol Manck:
A tall Cardassian with a grumpy attitude; Why exactly he got assigned
to the Maelstorm is still a mystery, but he seems to do his job well
so nobody's really complaining. Argol is in charge of station
security.
Anya Maras:
A bajoran woman who mans the science station; her knowledge seems
varied, and her social skills well developed, even though she can't
stand Manck, for obvious reasons...
Daniel Jackson:
A human in his thirties in charge of engineering. His skills are
average, but his ability to improvise more than makes up for it, and
he's one of the people who helped constructing the Central Reactor
and one of the few who understands it fully.
Doctor Ragg:
A Ferengi as cowardly as they come, yet Ragg's medical skills and
techniques rank among the finest in medical circles.
romulan:
(name unknown)
Previously:
David Rolans, a young StarFleet officer, has recently been promoted
to command the star base that goes by the codename of "Maelstrom", a
starbase that is equipped with a unique and experimental generator
capable of opening a stable wormhole.
The freshly appointed commander and his new staff are faced with
several problems shortly after Rolans' arrival, but all of these turn
out to be childsplay when the Maelstrom's first mission goes horribly
out of hand...
A Romulan intruder manages to sabotage the station, causing an
overload in the main reactor, resulting in the entire station being
transported to a new, unknown destination, in a completely different
galaxy.
Their unplanned jump has them wind up near a pre-warp M-class planet,
inhabited by a civilization roughly comparable to medieval earth. On
the same planet they also met a strange being from an advance
civilization, one that in appearance looks lot like The Devil.
After a short dialogue, two Extras getting disintegrated and the
crew's upsetting of an entire planet's destiny by blowing their god
to bits, the crew returns to the Maelstrom just in time to see the
devil-like creature's ship disappear completely...
Project Star Gate --- Chapter VIII --- ' A new hope '
by Mark van der Laan
The atmosphere in the Maelstrom's briefing room was very tense.
Perhaps it was because the Romulan that had sabotaged the station was
among them now, and not even tied up. Perhaps it was because they
were many lightyears away from hope with chances of returning in this
lifetime slim at best. Or maybe it was simply because of the strange
critter sitting on the middle of the meeting table.
"Do you think it's intelligent?" David whispered.
"I think so," Anya whispered, "Look how it shifted its attention to
you? It noticed you're the leader."
"I think it's going to speak," David whispered back.
It turned its full attention towards David Rolans and tilted its head
a few times, examining the commander. Then finally it spoke, and all
where utterly impressed by what the alien entity had to say.
"Pi-pikapi-pikachu!"
David jumped awake with a shock, but fortunately most of those
present were too busy bickering to notice that he'd dozed off. "What
a weird dream that was," David concluded to himself, "Maybe it was
something I ate..."
Despite the messy start, the staff meeting quickly got underway and
the most obvious topic at hand was of course the fact that they were
stranded in a completely different galaxy without the means to get
home. "Is there any chance we can use the graviton-generator to send
us back the same way we got here?" David inquired.
"Possible, but not likely, Anya replied, rubbing her hands together
somewhat nervously, "There'd be no way to determine where we'd jump
too. We could appear back in the alpha quadrant, or in yet another
different galaxy, even further from home; heck, we could even appear
inside a star or in the middle of a planet, both which would be
disastrous to say the least."
"Appearing inside a planet would crush our molecular integrity within
less than a second. Materializing within a star would melt the hull
in a very short time," Daniel Jackson elaborated, even though it
wasn't really needed.
Argol Manck, the tall Cardassian in charge of station security
coughed. "We should focus our attention on acquiring a different
technology then. The alien race we encountered on the planet seems to
have very advanced transportation technology. Given their previous
hostility, we should take it from them by force!"
"And how do you expect to take it from them without any knowledge
where to look, assuming they aren't on the other side of the galaxy?"
Jagh queried, the sarcastic undertone in his voice quite apparent.
Argol shrugged. "This planet is supposedly theirs, with the people as
their vassals right? Blow it to ashes and I'm sure they'll come out;
we've got plenty of firepower..."
"Only a Cardassian would suggest genocide for a solution," Anya
groaned.
"It's not genocide, we could just blow up some property," Argol
interjected.
At this point, Commander Rolans decided to intervene before his
science officer would kill his chief of security: "Right, Mr. Manck's
proposal is obviously rejected. Does anyone else have any suggestions
on our next action?" - Ragg started to raise his hand.
"Besides remaining here to start an empire of wealth and profit,"
Rolans corrected. Ragg grumbled something and lowered his hand again.
After a moment of silence where no one suggested anything, it was
Daniel who spoke up again. "Long range sensors show this planet to be
the only M-class world in shuttle-range. In effect, the only sentient
race we'll be able to communicate with are of a pre-warp
civilization. Despite the risk, I think using the generator is our
best chance in this, even if there is a chance we'll end up in the
middle of a star."
David considered it, then spoke. "Agreed. Unless anyone has anything
to say, our only alternative would be the quite unlikely return of
the alien we encountered on the planet." No one had anything to add
to that, and Commander David Rolans rose from his chair: "Excellent.
Start making the preparations and find a way to escape appearing
inside a planet. Mr. Ramen, you're with me, we have a Romulan spy to
interrogate."
The Romulan merely looked up when the duo entered his cell but made
no further action whatsoever, leaving the initiative with the station
commander. "Our station has been flung into a completely different
galaxy and our chances of returning home are slim at best; back in
the alpha quadrant, Project Maelstrom will most likely be terminated.
You'll be happy to know your act of sabotage was successful."
"My heart sings with joy at that, yet I will not smile," the Romulan
replied, "It's hard to appreciate the honour I get so many lightyears
away."
"You got what you deserved," Jagh said, "The question is, what do we
do with you next? As a prisoner, you'll only cause trouble - maybe we
should execute you?"
"Strike me down now and I'll come back more powerful than you could
possibly imagine," the Romulan threatened.
David Rolans just grunted, pulled his phaser and shot the Romulan,
who fell backwards. "Only more annoying than we can imagine.... - and
you're lucky it was on stun," he told the unconscious prisoner.
They left the cell, the forcefield returning back into place to seal
in the Romulan and they went back towards the command center, where
the final preparations had just been completed for the next jump.
"Well then, gentlemen," David said, "Are we all ready to journey into
the deep?"
"Main Generator charged up and ready for graviton burst," Anya
replied, "We're able to recreate the circumstances that lead to our
displacement, so this should work. We're ready to go at your
command."
David nodded and settled back in his command chair, folding his hands
into each other to rest his chin in them.
"Let's rock."
