USS Calhoun/Delta One Status Report by Adrian Rodd
=====================================================================
The USS Calhoun is currently in orbit above the planet where a
shuttle crew vanished and where First Contact was made with the
Algorian and Thelodian species. Peaceful relations have been
initiated with the main part of the Thelodian population, while the
first Algorian has been brought out of stasis through the joint
effort of Thelodian and Starfleet scientists and engineers. As a
first spokesman for his people, this Algorian, Rashid, had proved
willing and eager to establish relations with the Federation,
including an extensive cultural exchange.
Two of the missing shuttle crewmembers have been recovered alive and
treated in Sickbay, while the corpses of the other two have likewise
been recovered and brought back on board.
Meanwhile, the Calhoun crew seek to uncover the true motivations and
story of a mysterious 'Vulcan' vessel warning them of alleged Romulan
spies on board. Careful investigations, led by Ensign Dugall, are
underway, with help from ACMO Tarvin. A Starfleet medic, Henet, is in
the brig for collaboration with a potentially hostile vessel.
Commander Dawn Summers snapped during the rescue of Crewman Lake from
a group of renegade, surface-dwelling Thelodians, and killed several
of the aliens before being beamed back to the ship. Captain Su had no
choice but to temporarily relieve her from duty. Seemingly tottering
on the brink of madness, Summers nevertheless refuses medical care.
Members of the Security team, loyal to Summers, threatened mutiny if
the Commander was not re-instated; Lieutenant John Hart, Chief of
Security, was able to defuse the situation, but two Security ensigns
are now under arrest for attempted mutiny. The situation was further
complicated when Commander Harris and Lieutenant Stevenson, in an
attempt to protect the Captain from possible mutiny, initiated a
misunderstanding by accidentally pointing phaser rifles at Hart and
Su.
Tensions are running high, emotions are frayed, as problems face the
crew inside and outside the ship. Despite promising diplomatic
relations with the Algorians and Thelodians, problems are a-plenty in
many other regards, and nobody knows any more quite what to expect. .

Pandora Station Status Report by Bram Peeters
=====================================================================
Previously on STFF: Pandora Station:
While the Epimetheus was flying towards the Sitol system, the crew
analysed the sensor data collected by the Delta Flyer, and the
long-range sensors of the station, and they came to the conclusion
that there might be a cloaked ship waiting for them in the Sitol
system.
And now the conclusion:
Around 0200 contact with the Epimetheus was lost on the station,
apparently caused by a power failure. Some time later, this was
confirmed by Ensign Shulti when contact was briefly restored, but
Shulti's signal is interrupted again. The aliens also detected the
power failure aboard the Epimetheus, and Selar and Tokar decided to
translocate the Epimetheus saucer into orbit around the sixth planet
to assist with repairs. Sub-General Selar translocated to the
Epimetheus with Commander Sarin, Lieutenant Ryaanax and Ensign
Roberts to inform them about the aliens plan, and also to tell them
what happened to the away team. After the Epimetheus was moved to
Sitol VI, the away team and Selar report to sickbay where CMO Ambria
wanted to see them.
While trying to fix a problem with the Epimetheus's at torpedo
launcher, Ensigns Shulti, Delari and Bell also found the cause of the
power failure: the ship's systems were infested with micro-organisms,
originating from the Din'ghes Nebula. Half an hour later most systems
had been repaired and at 0300 Commander Sarin was able to contact the
station again, and inform Captain Janssens about what had happened.
Lieutenant Naragona, who had stayed behind on the alien vessel, found
out that the aliens had not only detected the power failure on the
Epimetheus; a cloaked Klingon Bird of Prey was heading towards the
Sitol system. Naragona informed Ensign Roberts about hir discovery,
and Roberts requested to be translocated back to the alien vessel.
Some time later Roberts made another discovery aboard the alien ship,
but when she wanted to report this to commander Sarin, her signal was
interrupted.
The fact that the aliens had detected the Klingon vessel had also
been discovered by Dr. Ambria when he picked up part of a telepathic
communication between Tokar and Selar about the Klingon vessel.
Ambria reported this to Commander Sarin, and the bridge was ordered
to find out if there was another cloaked vessel out there. Nothing
was found, until the vessel decloaked and opened fire at the
Epimetheus.

USS VALKYRIE STATUS REPORT - 2391.01.06:
After the wormhole-incident that resulted in the Valkyrie being
stranded in the past, the ship has been ordered to travel to Jupiter
Stations to repair the damage caused during a firefight with the
Suliban. With the ship docked and undergoing repairs, most of the
ship crew had been granted shore leave.
First Officer Dal has traveled to earth - causing a minor
intergalactic incident in the process by accident - and, after being
freed from a StarFleet cell by his new Commanding Officer, has
returned to the Valkyrie with the ship's new CO, Lo'ana El'Arna
yilish Kin'j alej'oh xi-zo qon'il, as well as some additional
recruits.

Startracking by Mike Smith
=====================================================================
OK everyone, I'm back with a new monthly article, STARTRACKING. In
this Article, I will be interviewing one person every month, to try
to get a better look at them, and their opinions. So to start us off,
who better to bring on the show then your own GM, Guido Dorssers. For
those few of you that do not know much about him, here are the
VITAL FACTS:
Name: Guido Dorssers
Age: 22
Race: Human...maybe
Gender: Male...I think
Year in School: 4th year...in college
Marital Status: Single
Siblings: 2 sisters
Languages: Dutch, Limburgs, English, German, Latin, a few words
French, even fewer words Italian, euh.. did I forget something? :-)
And Now, What You've All Been Waiting For, The Grand Event, The
Interview:
Mike: Well first off, I'd like to thank you for agreeing to do this
interview. OK, digging right into the questions, when did you first
become a Trekie, or Trekker?
Guido: Good question. I think it all started with watching TNG on TV.
Mike: And when did you start simming, or RPGing?
Guido: I started with RPGing by email with Christmas '99.
Approximately a half year after I started using the Internet and a
several weeks after I found out about these kind of games being in
existence.
Mike: Do you think you'll ever retire from being GM? And if so, how
will a predecessor be chosen?
Guido: I don't know. The chance is that due to time constraints I
will eventually have to retire So with this answer I would like to
leave these questions unanswered. :-)
Mike: With the new year comes some resolutions, have you, or the
command staff at Frontier Fleet set any goals for the next year? Like
in size of ships? or Simmers?
Guido: I personally have not set any resolutions, except for keeping
to try and do the best in the interests of the game of course. It's
no
Mike: Do you...or Frontier Fleet have any big surprises for the 2003
simming year?
Guido: Well, we always do have plans. But whether and when we will
work those out is never sure. And if they are completely worked out,
only then we can start using them. However, I don't think there is
much that can be seen as big surprises. But well, you never know what
we will still come up with during the following year.
Mike: I see...moving on: Did you ever think, when you first started
out, that someday, you would be the CO of one of the best fleet's
around?
Guido: No, I didn't. Of course I once hope to be able to rise the
ranks to CO of a vessel, but to be going to run a complete game was
not something I envisioned when starting out. And well, I don't feel
comfortable saying as GM that ST Frontier Fleet is the best game out
there, because there are so many other games out there that I do not
know. So I just like to say that we are simply less worse.
Mike: If you could endorse any one FO to by the next CO of a duty
station, who would that be, and why?
Guido: That is one again a question I cannot answer upon. It all
depends on the circumstance when we get to the point that we need a
new CO. Every FO is in essence a CO in training, just like 2O's are
FO's in training. But those people have to be wanting the jobs
offered and then we need to see who's the best suited for the job.
Thereby each also has their own desires, which we also need to take
into account.
Mike: Ok, moving on from Frontier Fleet matters: How do you feel
about the new Enterprise TV series?
Guido: There are nice to watch, however, I would have preferred it if
the writers had not gone back in time before all the other series. Or
at least paid better attention to the timeline. For example, why do
they meet so many new aliens we never saw before? Theoretically these
aliens are pretty much in the middle of the United Federation of
Planets to be. Being in the middle of it one would assume we would
have seen them in future timelines too aboard the Enterprise NCC-1701
and the NCC1701-D and aboard Voyager. So, in that sense I don't
really like to see it as being a Star Trek series. But it has it's
own something.
Mike: How does it compare to others?
Guido: It seems to advanced to be in the past. :-) And having it
being in the past it doesn't really feel as Star Trek to me.
Mike: And what would be your favorite series, and why?
Guido: That would either be TNG or Voyager. And usually I choose
Voyager. Why? Because of the exploration. And of course I like the
sleek design of the Intrepid class ships. : D
Mike: Moving on to issues outside our fantastic Star Trek World: How
do you feel about The International Issue of Iraq and surrounding
issues?
Guido: Well, let's just say I don't like wars and hope none will come
forward out of these current issues.
Mike: So in general, how do you feel about all the terrorism issues?
Guido: Terrorism is bad. Usually many have to pay for someone to make
a point. Is that really needed? If you ask me, no, that should not be
needed if he/she has a valid point.
Mike: Moving on: Your enrolled in college right now correct?
Guido: I'm studying Computing Science at the Eindhoven University of
Technology, yes.
Mike: What to you want to become?
Guido: Graduated. :-)
Mike: Funny, but as a profession, what do you want to do?
Guido: I'm not entirely sure yet. I'll see when I get there. It might
be something with R&D.
Mike: Will your presence at Frontier Fleet be disrupted when you
graduate? Or will you command her through anything?
Guido: I hope not. But as said again, there is no way to tell for me
now. It might also simply be that between now and graduation I might
have to cut down on ST Frontier Fleet and will be able to get back
after graduating. So this is another question to which I cannot give
a real answer. I'll try to command the game through, but we'll how
long I'll manage.
Mike: The future the creator of Star Trek made is soon becoming our
present. Do you think that the events projected in Star Trek will
unfold to be true? It sure does seem like WW3 is coming up, doesn't
it?
Guido: Sometimes it feels like that, on other days it does not. I
think people are pretty smart these days and I think that even though
they like to show their forces to each other they won't be really
stupid enough to start a war as big as WW III. On the other hand, I
might simply be optimistic here. But let's just say I have faith in
today's people to not start a nuclear world war.
Mike: Do you ever think that the human race could ever put their own
materialistic needs aside and operate in a noncurrency based way of
life like that projected by Star Trek?
Guido: Yes, I believe that would be possible. But that wouldn't be
today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year or even next
decade. It will take a long time. At least a century, probably even
more. It would mean that before this happens the world first has to
become one single nation, that their should be an invention like a
replicator, so that everyone can replicate food for free, etc, etc.
Mike: Overall your time being the Commander-in-Chief of Frontier
Fleet, what do you think is your hardest thing to do...other than
being interviewed of course...;-)
Guido: That's quite easy. What I really hate about being the GM of a
game like ST Frontier Fleet is being the one who has to make a final
decision in conflicts that might arise between members within the
game. It's hard, because how objective you are, how far you stay away
from taking sides, how much thought you give to it, there is always
at least someone who thinks you are making the wrong decision and who
stays angry on you. And that while I like being part of a game like
this simply because of the fact of learning to know people all around
the world and becoming friends with them.
Mike: Well, I'd like to thank you a ton for being interviewed, and
perhaps, we can make this an annual thing?
Guido: That might be possible. If you promise me at least to keep
changing the questions. ;-)
Mike: Of course...and I'd like to which you good luck with the
upcoming year, in and out of game!
Guido: Thanks :-)
THAT CONCLUDES THIS INTERVIEW, BUT JOIN US NEXT MONTH WITH A NEW
SPECIAL GUEST MERIJN DONDERS, AND SEVERAL OTHER NEW EXCITING
ADDITIONS TO THIS ARTICLE, SO READ AGAIN!!!

Project Star Gate -- Chapter IX -- 'Prophecy' by Mark van der Laan
=====================================================================
Introduction
Space, the final frontier. Or is it? In a remote corner of the Alpha
Quadrant, a new and unique project has been started. Here, in the
distant Bel System we find a new type of star base, one unlike ever
seen before. This star base, wielding the codename 'Maelstrom',
utilizes the sun's power to create a rift in space, a vortex much
alike a wormhole, for a brief period of time, allowing whatever
passes through it to travel to any part of the galaxy, or even to
distant galaxies. However when something goes wrong, the station and
its crew accidentally get transported to a distant galaxy. These
stories follow the adventures of its crew as they travel towards new
destinations, meeting new friends and encountering new foes, hoping
that their next teleportation will lead them home. These are the
adventurers of the Star Gate.
Main Characters
David Rolans:
Commanding Officer of the Maelstrom. A young terran StarFleet
officer. Though still inexperienced at being in command, he is
anything but naive.
Captain Black:
Originally assigned to guide Commander Rolans to the Maelstrom, Black
turns out to be more than just an escort, always around to lend a
helping hand.
Jagh Ramen:
A trill with an almost impossible tranquillity; Jagh is assigned as
David's first officer and tries to perform that duty at his best
ability.
Argol Manck:
A tall Cardassian with a grumpy attitude; Why exactly he got assigned
to the Maelstorm is still a mystery, but he seems to do his job well
so nobody's really complaining. Argol is in charge of station
security.
Anya Maras:
A bajoran woman who mans the science station; her knowledge seems
varied, and her social skills well developed, even though she can't
stand Manck, for obvious reasons...
Daniel Jackson:
A human in his thirties in charge of engineering. His skills are
average, but his ability to improvise more than makes up for it, and
he's one of the people who helped constructing the Central Reactor
and one of the few who understands it fully.
Doctor Ragg:
A Ferengi as cowardly as they come, yet Ragg's medical skills and
techniques rank among the finest in medical circles.
Tal Rehu:
The Romulan spy who sabotaged the Maelstrom project, causing the
entire space station to be hurled into another galaxy. At present
he's being detained in the brig.
Previously:
David Rolans, a young StarFleet officer, has recently been promoted
to command the star base that goes by the codename of "Maelstrom", a
starbase that is equipped with a unique and experimental generator
capable of opening a stable wormhole.
The freshly appointed commander and his new staff are faced with
several problems shortly after Rolans' arrival, but all of these turn
out to be childsplay when the Maelstrom's first mission goes horribly
out of hand...
A Romulan intruder manages to sabotage the station, causing an
overload in the main reactor, resulting in the entire station being
transported to a new, unknown destination, in a completely different
galaxy.
Their unplanned jump has them wind up near a pre-warp M-class planet,
inhabited by a civilization roughly comparable to medieval earth. On
the same planet they also met a strange being from an advance
civilization, one that in appearance looks lot like The Devil.
After a short dialogue, two Extras getting disintegrated and the
crew's upsetting of an entire planet's destiny by blowing their god
to bits, the crew returns to the Maelstrom just in time to see the
devil-like creature's ship disappear completely...
And so, the crew decides to take the risk of teleporting again,
hoping their next jump will take them closer to home, and not into
the burning heart of an unknown star...
Project Star Gate --- Chapter IX --- ' Prophecy '
by Mark van der Laan
After three days of seemingly endless rain, the skies had finally
cleared a little, letting through the bright rays of the sun once
more to warm the land. There had been many rainstorms lately, far
more than usual for this time of the year. Some believed it to be a
bad omen, a sign of the return of the Evil Ones, but not all believed
in this, instead seeking for a more reasonable explanation.
Gary Samdar, Magus of the Second Circle was one of these people, but
he was one of few, most people still clinging to ancient believes and
myths of the past. That's why Gary was travelling from his home town
of Cryton to the large Overcity of Grandahl, to act as a public
speaker to an entire room filled with supersitious fools, as well as
those who shared his view.
The rain had delayed his trip, but he'd still be there in time, even
though he was on foot. And that's when all hell broke loose.
Being attuned to the flow of magic, Gary could immediately feel
something was amiss. Ahead of him, he could feel a massive amount of
magical energy building, larger than anything he'd ever experienced
before. It didn't take long for the energy started to manifest itself
physically, darkening the skies and scaring away the wildlife who too
felt something was amiss. Lightning crackled across the skies as sign
of the increasing build and finally the ground itself started to
crack, the magical pressure forming a deep crater that kept on
expanding. Gary knew he had to stay away from it as far as possible
by instinct and ran, ran as fast he could.
And then everything around him seemed to explode in light, and he
could feel his body being flung across the air, landing several feet
away in the mud. Running for his life and being flung across the air
had taken most of his strength, and it took him some effort to crawl
back on his feet.
The feeling of strong magic was slowly subsiding, even though the air
was still charged, and the young mage slowly turned around.
In front of him hovered something that he knew only from the tales of
legend, something he'd never even dreamt of seeing, but now he was
witnessing it with its own eyes. In front of him, he could see the
legendary Castle Doom, homebase of the Evil Ones, and the sign of
their impending return.
The castle was as enormous and overwhelming as the ancient legends
foretold. It stretched across the fields and far into the sky, yet it
did not touch the ground, instead hovering some hundred meters above
it. It was made out of a creepy and cold metal exterior, surely
something the vile demons of the past would call home. All sorts of
inscriptions were written on it, but they were in a language Gary did
not understand, probably an ancient demonic language.
The fields below Castle Doom had already withered and turned to
wasteland, corrupted by the vile structure that slowly descended onto
the world. Gary Samdar was horrified. He'd never believed the stories
to be true, yet with the evidence directly in front of him, there was
no denying it.
"Sufferin succotash," he whispered, unable to speak more. The
crackling sound of thunder snapped him back to reality. "I have to
travel to Grandahl, and fast. The army must be mobilized to conquer
this menace!"
He was about to call upon his magic to transport him to Grandahl, a
risky event to say the least, when the feeling of strong magic
building returned again. Realizing something was amiss again, he hid
in the bushes, and not a moment too soon. The dead ground in front of
him was illuminated with a faint glow, and out of nowhere three
humanoid figures materialized. Two were remarkably similar to
himself, but the third was monstrously large and grey, yet all three
they wore the same strange outfit. No doubt the larger one was one of
the Evil Ones, and other two probably were humans who had sold their
soul to darkness.
Gary muttered a simple incantations, increasing his awareness and
allowing him to overhear what was being said.
"Commander Rolans, this is no good," one of them said, "We barely
survived this time, the next time we might end up in the middle of a
star."
"I understand your concern, but would you rather stay here?" the
other replied, "We have to keep trying until we succeed, no matter
what the risk is."
"If we attempt to teleport again, we may destroy this entire world.
Is that the price you want to pay?"
Interesting, Gary thought, apparantly the demon didn't control their
souls completely yet, they still shared some sentiment for this
world. There was yet hope.
It was then when the Evil One spoke up, holding a strange device of
vile magic in his hand: "Gentlemen, I'd hate to interrupt your
discussion, but we are not alone. Someone is watching us."
The young mage swallowed and could feel his heart beating faster. The
Evil One knew he was there, how could he have been so careless - he
should've known the Evil One would have magic that could detect
anyone spying on them.
He realized he wouldn't be able to escape now; the demon would've
captured him long before he'd be able to reach the city. His heart
pounding, he tapped into the flow of magic, channeling it into his
body. His only chance to escape now lay in taking out the demon and
his cohorts.
Gary felt the magical power coursing through his body, focusing in
his right arm. Finally, he let go, flinging a ball of energy at the
three vile ones.
The bolt of energy flew through the humid sky, striking the Evil One
directly into the chest and sending him hurling back. Unfortunately,
Gary didn't have the time to hurl another bolt, because one of the
demon's henchmen drew some kind of weapon, retaliating with mage fire
of his own.
Gary took cover again, but he was sure to be done for. And when he
saw the Evil One rising back to his feet, slowly, he knew he had no
chance to survive.
And then the Evil One went down again, cursing loudly as an arrow
pierced his shoulder. The Evil One's helpers stopped their firing,
turning to their master to bring him to safety and again they
disappeared in a flash of light.
Gary however turned around, looking for his mysterious helper. And
again he was struck speechless when he discovered that his helper was
another fabled creature, namely an immortal elf. "Thank you," Gary
finally managed to say, "Thank..."
"Later," the elf said with gentle voice, "There is a fell voice in
the air. We must move on, we cannot linger."
"The Evil Ones?"
"They have retreated in their vile castle for now, but they shall
return with many more. Let us go, this place is far from safe."
Gary realized they had no choice, and so they started moving again,
in the direction of Gradahl, away from the vile Castle Doom and the
evil it contained. Yet with each step, Gary's hope dwindled,
realizing they couldn't possibly hope to defeat this evil force of
legends. "Elf," he said, panting from their firm pace, "Why do you
help me? Do you really think we can make a difference?"
The elf turned around and looked at him, giving him an emotionless
look that was natural to the elven race. "Even the smallest person
can change the course of the future."
"How right you are!" a voice directly in front of them barked, "And
your future could be very short indeed!"
Seemingly out of nowhere, another person appeared, wearing the same
outfit as the Evil Ones, yet he looked different, almost elves in
appearance, although his expression wasn't emotionless, far from it.
In his hand he held a small device, it looked a lot like the device
that the others had, and Gary assumed it was used to control magic.
"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Tal Rehu and I come before you as
a representative of the Romulan Star Empire."
"Remulin Star Empire?" Gary repeated, "I've never heard of the
Remulin Empire. Is it across the sea?"
Tal Rehu laughed at that, it was a mocking laughter. "In some way, it
is, but farther away than you could imagine. But I've studied you,
and I think you could be of help for me."
"We shall not join with the forces of darkness," the elf spat, having
readied his bow in the blink of an eye.
"Drop your weapon," Tal Rehu hissed, "Or I shall destroy you."
"You would die before your stroke fell!" the elf retorted.
"I agree with my comerade," Gary said, "Why should we help the likes
of you?"
"Because," their foe replied, "I think you have the power to send me
home."
