USS Calhoun Status Report, December 2005, by Adrian Rodd.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

(] STARDATE [)
2392.04.25

(] LOCATION of the Calhoun: [)

Holding position near Starbase 32.

Episode 25: "The Explorers' Fifteen"

The away team face new problems on the planet, as seafaring pirates show up,
and identify the Starfleet team as foreigners who have fallen from the sky.
The ion storm, close enough to affect the planet's upper atmosphere, has
rendered all the team's technology useless, including combadges, tricorders
and the crashed shuttles' computers.

Most of the team have gathered in the shuttle Kupe to discuss their next
move, but others are missing, and of course cannot be contacted nor found
with the shuttle's sensors. Hequill, Ahra and Baltimore are trying to
extract data from a damaged probe, mysteriously originating from Pandora
Station. Jack Callahan and a wounded Lieutenant Bailey, lost in the forest,
have been found by pirates. And, back in the alien village, amongst
villagers and pirates, Summers has to cope with a badly injured Lieutenant
de Troyes and an amnesic Doctor Foster.

Meanwhile, somewhere in subspace, Captain Sarin is in mortal danger, while
strange things are beginning to happen aboard the starship Calhoun. . .

USS Odyssey Status Report, December 2005, by Dennis Church.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

(] Stardate: [)
2392.04.25

Power is still fluctuating all over the ship, and the valiant crew of the
Odyssey has struggled to restore ship's systems and deal with the intruding
aliens. A team led by Commander Nerfertii managed to subdue one alien in
the transporter room, though not without considerable injury, as the
Commander himself has been brought to sickbay.

A meeting has been called to marshal what resources the Odyssey has left to
get out of their predicament.. and find out why these aliens are here.

USS Valkyrie Status Report December 2005, by John Hardy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

(] Stardate [)

2392.04.25

(] Location [)

In orbit of New Amsterdam Colony

(] Summary [)

The Valkyrie continues to be running the barest minimum of systems - life
support only - as all other power is diverted to the deflector dish, in
order to power the anti-leptonfilef that keeps the subspace rifts at bay.

Ensigns Alvarez and Schofield have launched the Brunhilde, in an attempt to
take some of the load of the anti-lepton field away from the Valkyrie's main
deflector, only to be captured by a rogue Orion pirate.

CSO PaRel has launched Klingon Ambassador Kregal inside a modified probe,
hoping that the Ambassador will be able to negotiate with those who had been
attacking the Valkyrie from within the rifts.

Ensigns Lowbridge and Finlay - together with Engineer Sahlpass - have
managed to make some crude modifications to a transporter coil, and have it
powered from a number of now dismantled phasers and tricorders. The coil
has enough power for one transport at a time, before taking several minutes
to recharge.

The crew on the bridge have become aware of the presence of the Orion ship,
and fear the capture of their colleagues, while the acting CO has opted to
climb down the turbolift shaft in a bid to reach Main Engineering - hoping
they'll have an answer for the power problems.

Pandora Station Status Report, December 2005, by Rob Versteegt.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

(] Stardate: [)

2392.04.25, as it has been for a while.

(] Location: [)

Pandora Station, at its usual location in orbit of Pandora II, although now
the Station is still surrounded by subspace rifts.

(] Summary: [)

The subspace rifts surrounding Pandora Station were still not letting any
communication through. The probes sent through these rifts to the Atlantis
seemed to have no effect, since there had been no response.

Commander Jalando made the decision: anti-lepton particles would be sent out
towards these rifts, in an attempt to close them. This worked, for a couple
of moments. . . after which torpedoes started to emerge from the rifts.
Since then, a barrage of torpedoes went on hitting the Station. While they
weren't doing a lot of damage, the message was clear: whatever intelligence
controlled these subspace rifts did not like these anti-lepton attacks...

Even after having taken the anti-lepton generators offline as a show of
goodwill, the Pandora Station crew found out that the rifts wouldn't stop
firing. So another attempt at communication was started: phasers were fired
in several mathematics sequences, like prime numbers. It was the idea that
if the aliens saw the Station's crew using math like this, they would
understand that the crew were intelligent, and stop the attack. A reaction
quickly came, in the form of several torpedoes hitting the shields in the
same sequence...

USS Atlantis Status Report, December 2005, by Ben Versteegt.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

(] Stardate: [)
- 2392.04.25

(] Locations of the (crew of the) USS Atlantis: [)

- Trapped in some sort of maze. (Captain Torn)
- Still hiding inside a subspace distortion nebula near a star system with a
Class A blue star, apparently inside Dominion space, in the Gamma Quadrant.
(The ship and rest of the crew)

(] Summary: [)

- 2392.04.25

While Captain Torn and the other COs of the Frontier Fleet, as well as the
Fleet Command Team, were still trapped in an alien maze, the crew of the
Atlantis had been unable to locate their missing Captain. Unfortunately,
they won't be able to start a genuine search any time soon, because they
have slightly more pressing matters to attend to.

The nebula in which the Atlantis was hiding from the subspace rifts turned
out not to be the safe haven the crew thought it would be. Claiming that the
Atlantis was violating their territory, the Dominion made their presence
known in the form of two Jem'Hadar vessels. The Vorta demanded that the
Atlantis left immediately, even though the ship was in no condition to face
the subspace rifts again. It seemed the crew was given an impossible choice:
to die at the hands of the subspace rifts... or to stay inside the nebula
and die at the hands of the Dominion.

Having been given some time to consider their options, the crew decided to
surprise the Dominion and try to outrun them. Unfortunately, Dominion
reinforcements arrived and cornered the Atlantis; the ship was held in
tractor beams shortly after the crew's ill-fated attempt to escape.

Facing five Dominion vessels now, the Atlantis wouldn't stand a chance in a
fight. The only way out of this predicament lay in a hardly credible bluff
set up by Andersson and Velden: they tried to convince the Vorta that if the
Atlantis should self-destruct, the power of the explosion, augmented by the
fictitious singularity torpedoes, would destroy everything inside the
nebula, including any installations and fleets the Dominion might have
stationed here.

Although the deception managed to create doubts in the Vorta's mind, it
failed to convince him completely, and he soon called the crew's bluff.
Knowing that the Atlantis would be no match against the Dominion forces, and
determined not to allow transwarp technology to fall into Dominion hands,
the Bridge officers initiated the auto-destruct sequence.

But the destruction of the Atlantis brought with it the risk of a very
powerful explosion which could destroy everything in the nebula. Ultimately,
the Vorta was not willing to take this risk. He contacted the Atlantis to
suggest a compromise: Jem'Hadar soldiers would be transported on board the
Atlantis to oversee repairs and make sure the crew wasn't spying on the
Dominion. In return, the Vorta would allow the Atlantis to remain inside the
nebula until repairs were complete.

The compromise was accepted and the auto-destruct sequence was aborted. The
crew of the Atlantis had no time to rest, though. They had to make sure the
Jem'Hadar posed no threat and that they would not get to see the transwarp
drive or notice the lack of singularity torpedoes. After the Jem'Hadar and
the Vorta beamed aboard, the Jem'Hadar split up into groups in order to
search the ship -- escorted by Starfleet security personnel, of course. The
Vorta, named Volnaran, joined Andersson and Velden in the Captain's ready
room to discuss the details of their compromise.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Fletcher remained in his quarters, where Counsellor
Imala talked to him about his attacking a medic after losing his fiancée. In
sickbay, Doctor Morgan and the EMH plotted a little scheme involving
fabricating evidence of a non-existent virus in order to keep the Jem'Hadar
out of restricted areas.

Public Relations Status Report, December 2005, by Rob Versteegt.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

There were a total of -hang on to something- *5* signups this month!
Compared to last month's 9 signups, or December 2004's 21 signups, I think
we've reached a bit of a depth. Well, let's look at it from the bright side:
There's nowhere to go here but up! And *you* can help Frontier Fleet with
that, by voting! You must be tired of hearing that, I know, but it's what
you can do to help us get more signups. Go to
http://www.frontierfleet.net/comm/vote, and vote for us!

Anyway, here is where those 5 signups found us:

2: Voting site.
2: Unknown.
1: was a former member.

Well, that's it for 2005. It might be interesting to say that in 2005, there
were a total of 163 signups! That's about an average 13 and a half signups
per month. Not such a bad year, in my opinion...

But that doesn't mean we can do better for 2006! <G>

AcadCM's Comments:

While the Academy isn't all that busy in the last month of 2005, the year
itself has been quite something: The Academylist disappeared in favour of
the individual training, it was decided that 2O's should be the ones to make
sure that new Ensigns find their way on the dutystations, and last but not
least, a new Instructors guide is nearly finished. Let's see what 2006
brings the Academy...

Happy 2006 everyone!

In this article, you'll see how much everyone posted in 2005. There are
people who have a lot of posts, and those who don't have a lot of posts. Of
course that doesn't matter, since it's quality we value, not quantity, as
long as you keep posting at least once a week.

I've put the former players in here as well, since they did contribute to
the posting activity in 2005. Also, there are players who have only recently
joined, and thus haven't got a lot of posts. As said, that's okay: it's
about the quality.

Now, this being said, have fun looking up how much you've posted in 2005.

Legendary posts: January post, by Rob Verlinden.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Back in 2001 the USS Calhoun with her original crew made a stand-off with
two Cardassian ships. One of them sent out a disruption beam that paralysed
the Calhoun's main computer core. In the following two posts Aaron Delay,
playing the ship's CEO, first invoked Red Alert, then he devised a plan to
get rid of the Cardassians. He really came up with an original end for the
mission.

Subject: CEO Harris

NRPG: Let the fun beeeegin!

RPG:
(USS Calhoun, Engineering - 2390.6.19, 20:59)

Harris had jumped when Holmes had spouted off about his situation. Ambrose
was surprised he hadn't talked about the split up. Shrugging, he slid his
chair over to a console. Engineering was quiet. Harris had ordered all
officers out, but not all the way out. Several ensigns were working on
small problems on a few of the decks. The focus of his time now was getting
everything back into order. He looked around the room. The lights were down
and a few flickers could be seen here and there, but it was a sign of peace.
Standing up, Harris moved to the center of the room and looked around. He
smiled until...

All hell broke lose.

The lights failed. The power failed. Everything shut down. Darting across
the room, he grabbed a station. Nothing was working. Harris moved like a
cheetah now, dashing across the room to his office, slamming through the
partially open door, finding his portable generator stash. There were
nearly twenty of them. He quickly ran his fingers over the units,
connecting them one by one. Slamming his hand into the unit, he turned them
on. A cord was attached and once more he ran through the half open door and
hooked the station up. Power was working, if only in his section.

~Damn...what happened...~

It was a moment later he found the trick. Cardassians. Slamming his on the
board, he began to work. There was not much he could do from here, except
lockout the engineering information, which he promptly did. Stabbing his
finger on the board, he tried to discover why the power had failed when the
Cardassians had begun to snoop. He found his answer a moment later.

<Program 4.33.22>

Created by Jason Baugh, stardate unknown.

For possible invasion by foreign offices.

<end>

Harris sat back in his chair, the light reflecting off his face. His former
CEO, Jason Baugh had saved the ship once more. Only now, there was a
problem. How do you fix it?

"Computer, disengage program 4.33.22."

"Authorization needed from Jason Baugh, Chief Engineer."

Harris raised an eyebrow. Then what the hell was he? Shaking his head, he
began to run his hands over the console, attempting to locate something
anything. There was nothing. Sighing, Harris looked around the room,
feeling the pressure mount. There had to be something...

"Computer, engage override Harris Two Alpha Beta..."

There was a click and a hum and a beep. Then nothing. Ambrose Harris
looked around. What had he done? The room was still as dark and unpowered
as ever. Suddenly, a blinking red light was flashing.

<Begin System Startup?>

Harris smiled. Where there's a will, there's a way. Slowly, he began to
build a start-up list, making sure that when he gave the signal, everything
would light up. As he did this, he tapped his commbadge.

"Chief Harris to the bridge...standby for system start-up. I'm gonna take
us straight to red alert as soon as I can. If there aren't any senior
officers there, get them the HELL there!"

(reply bridge, tolith perhaps?)

With that, the CEO finished his list and let his hand rest over the button
that would start the ship up. He hoped there was a senior officer on the
bridge, but there was nothing he could do about that. He pushed his finger
down on the board and watched as the systems lighted up. He smiled and
turned to face the map of the ship as systems quickly came online.

"Computer, go to RED ALERT! All Engineers to your posts!"

Turning quickly, the Chief began to work to lock out the rest of the ship to
outside forces.

(reply all)
(posted by Sulu)

NRPG: The Chief Engineer calls a red alert....and I checked....I can call
one!

NRPG: And an end...let me know if its a bad one...but here it is!
RPG:
(USS Calhoun - Engineering - 2390.6.19, 21:27)

=^=Use whoever and whatever you need to chief. Though to be fair its all
hands on deck up here, you might be best looking to your own for this one,
red alert and all. Just get it done., Bren out.=^=

Harris sighed as he tapped his fingers across the board. There was little
he could do, except....

"The computer core!"

The CEO moved across the room, jumping over consoles and people. The
officers just ducked, as they were used to the Chief and his ways. Harris
needed proof and he needed it fast. He almost lost his balance as the ship
shook again. What the hell were the Cardassians thinking? His anger and
rage had begun to increase to the point it was at now where he would kill
anyone who touched his baby in a bad way. The Cardassians were gonna get
their rear ends handed to them on a platter, if Harris had anything to with
it.

~Damn straight I will, those sons of....~

Ambrose skidded to a halt at the Jeffries tube and tapped his commbadge
deftly as he slammed the door open.

"Chief to Holmes. Get ready to do some fast moving at a station..."

(Reply holmes)

Crawling through the tube, he moved quickly down and around till he reached
what he what he was looking for.

The main computer core.

"Harris to Torin, we're having a bit of an issue here. I need you to
standby on a power transfer should I short circuit this girl..."

(Reply Torin)

Two engineering officers came into the room. It as Smith and Wesson, a
unlikely pair Ambrose had grabbed for his services. One was shorter than
Harris while the other was taller then a tree.

"Allright gentlemen, prepare to re-route...Holmes, standby!"

The room was beginning to become hot with the combined bodies of two men and
a women. Wesson smiled to herself at what an opportunity she had. She
shook her head and looked directly at the Chief.

"Start with the basic systems. Holmes, begin to lock these systems into
bridge control, but don't release it yet. "

The two officers began to work and as they did, Harris pulled a modified
PADD out of his pack. It was time for some Cardassian kicking. Slowly he
began to hack the systems, using the uplink he had discovered in the
wreckage of the other dampeners. It was a weak link and he needed it.

"Shields and weapons re-routed!"

Harris nodded. Holmes reported next.

"Locked out sir!"

<SYSTEM ACCESSED>

Ambrose began to run his fingers over the systems, trying to find the
easiest to hold and keep. He managed to snag their warp drive and
navigation before their security protocols locked him out of everything
else. He tied all the Cardassians ships systems into his PADD, having
managed to get hold of all their warp and navigation systems. He hoped it
would work.

~It would have to...~

"We've got everything re-routed!"

Holmes came in, sounding a bit stretched. Harris had a feeling that Main
Engineering was a hot pot right now for the officers there, seeing as Holmes
was the last step in a process of saving the ship.

"Everything's locked out and ready! We've got little time sir!"

Harris grunted and shoved himself into full gear, nearly rolling himself
through the tubes, ending up falling out of the entrance. He bounced right
back up to his feet and hit his commbadge.

"Captain Bren, we have a temporary lockout. I have access to their warp and
navigation. I have a limited amount of time, but this plan will work.
you'll have control and the Cardassians will be gone, with little evidence
to prove that their problem was much more than a warp malfunction!"

(Reply Bren)

Harris breathed deeply. He had been waiting so long to do this.

"Holmes, give the bridge their control. Computer, engage
Harris_Cardassian_Kill and erase after engagement. GO!"

Harris waited as officers turned to the monitors. Smith and Wesson dropped
out of the Jeffries tube. One officer shouted.

"Control is back sir!"

There was another pause as a exterior view was engaged. The Cardassian
vessels hung in space, taunting him.

~Pay back is a bit~

Suddenly the vessels shook for a moment in space, then suddenly turned, so
quickly, Harris could imagine the support systems screaming. There was a
pause as the ships began to move forward when suddenly they jumped into
space, going to full warp. Cheers erupted in the room as Harris let his
shoulders drop from their tense position. One of the officer turned to the
Chief, a puzzled look on his face.

"Chief...where did they go?"

Harris smiled.

"Ever heard of the Klingon Home World? Pretty damn close...."

Harris turned to Holmes.

"Let's get this place cleaned up. Do a check and see what I did to the
systems. Smith and Wesson, undo the re-routing and get the systems back to
normal. Get me warp capability in five seconds and get me some damn
coffee!"

The officers scrambled. Ambrose smiled. They knew how to bust their butts.
