Chief Editor's Notes:
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Goodday to you all! It has been a long time, but finally, the Federation
Tribune has been finished. The status reports, posting stats and promotions
of both May and June (so about April and May ;-) ) are all in this edition.
Also, Martin Miller has revived the Trek Trivia. Be sure to take a look! Of
course the Legendary Post is back as well.

Have fun with this latest edition of the Federation Tribune! And next month,
I'll make sure it'll come on time... ;-) So if you have additions to this
newspaper, now's the time to send them to me!

Regs,
Rob.

LOCATION: in orbit above an unnamed planet in the Parallel Reality

Episode 26: "The Mirror Crack'd" (season 1 finale)

Down on the planet, the stranded crew encounter giant but friendly reptiles,
and strange, lethal machines prowling the empty streets. The possible
presence of a power generator nearby could prove a vital asset, but how much
longer can the man claiming to be Lorvok be trusted?

Up in space, chaos unravels as a battle between rebels and loyalists, with
the Calhoun's original crew trapped in the middle, breeds uncertainty as to
everyone's fate. . . and a renegade de Troyes threatens all with

USS Odyssey Status Reports, April and May 2006.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

=/\=April 2006, by Dennis Church.=/\=

Stardate: 2392.07.07
Location: Romulan Neutral Zone

Although hostilities almost broke out between the Odyssey and the Romulan
warbird, the shrewd Captain Bennek agreed to meet the Romulan Commander
Velek - with Ambassador T'Kella and Lieutenant Davis in tow - on the Odyssey
to discuss the fate of the refugees, where Velek is going to question them
himself.

Meanwhile, Commander Denebris, Lieutenant Helfrump, and Ensign Healey
question the refugees, as it seems a matter of extreme convienence that a
Romulan warbird ambushed them *just* as they found the derelict Romulan
vessel. Shadowy Romulan intrigue is coming into play....but who is playing
whom?

=/\=May 2006, by Rob Verlinden.=/\=
Status Report:

Stardate: 2392.07.07
Location: Romulan Neutral Zone

During the transport of their Commander, the Romulans secretly beamed a
shield disruptor device to the Romulan vessel into the cargobay. One of the
Romulan refugees, acting as a spy, was instructed to set of this device.
However, the transport was discovered and the spy apprehended.

After deciding that the Odyssey would grant the refugees asylum, Commander
Velek was send back to the Romulan warbird. The warbird then opened fire on
the Odyssey. Will the tactical plan of Denebris and Nerfertii prevent the
Odyssey from destruction?

USS Valkyrie Status Report, April 2006, by Rick Clogston.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

(] STARDATE [)

2392.07.12
2392.07.13

(] LOCATION [)

Various locations within the Sirkovsky Expanse.

(] SUMMARY [)

The Brunhilde mission is under command of 2O PaRel, along with ACEO Finlay,
Counselor Lando as pilot, and MCPO Portnoy at tactical. They found the
Meade near a twin-star system, being salvaged by a Breen warship. They
destroyed the Meade, and were captured by, and escaped from, the Breen.
They are now part of the way back, but are without warp drive. They are
negotiating for another one with a Vorta named Meyfun who makes her living
scavanging in the expanse.

During the MVA, the three sections ran into a dark-matter particle storm and
are all disabled to varying degrees and currently out of communication with
each other. Alpha section is commanded by the Captain. They have met up
with a Varnii warship and are in the middle of a first-contact situation
with them. The ship's Chief Medical Officer, Brigit MacKenzie, and the
Assistant Chief Science Officer, Ensign Fletcher, have just beamed over with
Commander Vel of the Varnii ship.

The Beta section has found the survivors of the Meade on a class-N world
that the survivors have dubbed New Meade. Beta section is commanded by
First Officer Byrne, and an away team led by Science officer Anita Alvarez
has gone to the planet's surface - mostly water - to make contact with the
Meade survivors. There is also a colony of Varnii living there. Ensign
Decker was attacked by a shark, and Nurse Lang has taken him to sick bay.
Two of the Varnii tried to steal the away team's shuttle and crashed it in
the ocean. They were rescued by the away team and Meade survivors, and
inadvertantly got beamed up to the ship, where they are in hiding. Ensign
Masters, the pilot on the away mission, has beamed down to the shuttle to
try and retrieve it, but is trapped there with a dead shark who laid eggs in
the main compartment before dying.

Gamma section is commanded by Chief CONN officer Emile Schofield. He has
made contact with a Raq'hil warship, the Ghattan, commanded by General
Dru'phen. Dru'phen convinced Schofield to come to the Raq'hil homeworld
where he has made contact with Emperor Mordkhal. After a tense beginning,
negotiations are progressing and Schofield has just called on Gamma section
to come and join him at a celebratory banquet.

=/\=April 2006:=/\=

Current date: 2392.07.07
Current time: 0920-0930
Current location: Deep Space Delta One/USS Solstice

Summary:
The away team encountered Ensign Ban who wasn't very willing to cooperate
and Jalando had him beamed back to the Solstice. The away team then ran into
Ensign Gatto and Lt. Arquette who reacted in a similar away as Ban. When the
Solstice tried to beam Gatto out the shields of Delta One were raised,
preventing the beaming and cutting off the away team from the ship.

Gatto and Arquette went to Engineering and the away team tried to follow
them, only to end up in front of a group of Delta One security officers.
Meanwhile on the Solstice, Counsellor Aslam is talking to Ban and Cmdr.
Jalando and Lt. Kingston are trying to find a way to get through the shields
of the starbase.

=/\=May 2006:=/\=

Current situation:

Stardate 2392.07.07

The USS Solstice is still at Delta One trying to figure out why a quarter of
the crew doesn't want to return to the Solstice and why the personnel of
Delta One is so obsessed about 'just a science experiment' in a cargo bay on
deck 26.

- 2391.03.06 (flashback)
- 2392.07.12

Locations of the (crew of the) USS Atlantis:

- At the Starfleet Academy campus on Trill (flashback: 2387.11.08)
- At the USS Polaris, in the Copernicus Ship Yards, orbiting Luna.
(flashback: 2391.03.06)
- In Deasian space, approximately 2,7 light years away from the planet
Helteka in the Andari system, in the Gamma Quadrant, at a position roughly
1000 light years from the wormhole.

Summary:

- 2387.11.08

Arek Enere, the future host of the Vox symbiont, tries to study comparative
genetics but is happy when he is interrupted by his cousin.

- 2391.03.06

Leo Montgomery, an officer on board the USS Polaris, got ready to transfer
to the USS Atlantis, a new Akira class vessel built at the Utopia Planitia
Fleet Yards in orbit of Mars. Only minutes before he left his ship, he found
out that another Polaris officer was being transferred to the Atlantis: an
Ensign with the name of Zoë Vil.

- 2392.07.12

For the moment, the L'tari Convoy was safe from enemy attacks. In order to
ensure the convoy's safety, the convoy's leader, Aid Master Traa, asked
Captain Torn to escort the convoy to its destination: the decimated planet
Helteka. In addition, many of Traa's officers had died during the recent
pirate attack. Because the crew of the average convoy vessel consisted
mostly of volunteer civilians without any experience, Traa and his convoy
were in desperate need for experienced officers to command the ships.

After careful deliberation, Captain Torn decided that the Atlantis had to
help. It was decided that the Atlantis would function as lead vessel in the
convoy, and that the command vacancies on several of the convoy ships would
be filled by officers from the Atlantis. The prospect of commanding a space
ship is in itself a daunting one, but when the crew learned that they would
be virtually without backup from the Atlantis, it became clear that this was
not going to be an easy mission.

Fortunately, new crew had arrived via transwarp runabout. Among them was
Lieutenant Circe Pilkington, Chief Counsellor and former Second Officer of
the Atlantis. The new crew didn't even have time to get some rest after
their long and tiring journey, for they were immediately assigned to key
positions on the convoy and on the Atlantis.

While most of the crew of the Atlantis was busy getting ready for convoy
duty, some officers found time to take care of other things, too: with the
help of Doctor Dupre, Lieutenant Rofellian continued his investigation into
the recently discovered cases of Orion whisky. Having come to the conclusion
that the whisky was made on board the Atlantis itself, he now has to find
where on the ship the whisky was made, and by whom.

Earlier the same day, in Astrometrics, Crewman Norman used Ensign Nikki in a
twisted scheme to get the woman he loved, Denise, to love him as well. He
reasoned that by kissing Nikki, he would make Denise so jealous that she
would show more interest in him. The plan worked, and Norman and Denise
spent time in bed together, at the expense of Nikki.

Nikki, reassured in her belief that all men are pigs, meanwhile assisted
Doctor Thomas in repairing a radiation leak on deck 19. The leak had caused
ruptured lungs in several crewmembers and had to be closed.

Not much later, when most of the crew was in the process of transferring to
the Deasian convoy ships, Captain Torn made a rather unnerving discovery:
someone had painted the walls of his ready room orange! The search for the
culprit is still on, but it may very well be the case that the guilty person
is already on one of the convoy ships.

When the first Atlantis officers set foot on the ships they were to command,
they witnessed first-hand the damage caused by the constant pirate attacks
and by the continued strain placed on these old ships. Many of the more
heavily damaged vessels looked like they could fall apart at any moment. The
scary truth is that looks, in this case, are far from deceiving.

=/\=USS Atlantis Status Report May 2006=/\=

Stardate:
- 2392.07.12

Locations of the (crew of the) USS Atlantis:

- In Deasian space, approximately 2,7 light years away from the planet
Helteka in the Andari system, in the Gamma Quadrant, at a position roughly
1000 light years from the wormhole.

Summary:

- 2392.07.12

Several convoy vessels now fell under the command of Starfleet officers.
While trained to cope with difficult situations, they found themselves
challenged by the responsibilities of command. Not knowing the crew or the
ship they had been assigned to, the new commanders of the damaged convoy
vessels first had to earn the trust and respect of those under their
command, while at the same time trying to repair their ships as quickly and
as efficiently as possible. Needless to say, the task was far from easy.

None of the convoy ships had escaped the previous pirate attack unscathed,
but some were more damaged than others. One of the more damaged ships was
the L'tari 13. Under the leadership of Lieutenant Montgomery, the ship was
quickly repaired and the warp drive brought on line. Not long thereafter,
however, Montgomery and the rest of the Starfleet crew on the ship were
forced into escape pods. Having jettisoned these escape pods, the mutinying
crew of the L'tari 13 left the convoy to set a course back to Deasia III.

The crew of the L'tari 13 was not the only crew who felt uncomfortable with
the mission to Helteka. On board the L'tari 17, designated "Jatmey", the
Starfleet doctors learned that this mission of mercy came at a price: the
Deasian Empire shipped so many resources to Helteka that many citizens on
the Deasian home planet were starving.

Each convoy ship also experienced problems of their own. On board the L'tari
23, which was named "T'Rinna", Commander Velden and Ensign Andrusia
discovered that their only working warp nacelle was so badly damaged that it
would overload if the ship stayed at warp for longer than six hours. In
order for the convoy to remain together, all ships would therefore have to
drop out of warp every six hours. In addition to this discovery, Andrusia
found himself staring down the barrel of a phaser which was held by a
stowaway Deasian. The situation was quickly diffused when Andrusia charged
the Deasian and took away his weapon.

Throughout the convoy, Starfleet officers noticed that life on board a
Deasian convoy ship was very different than life on the Atlantis. Yet even
though the Atlantis didn't suffer from malfunctions, breakdowns or falling
floors, Captain Torn did have problems with his ready room. Or rather, the
colour of the room. It did not take long for the Glitch to come forward and
announce that painting the Ready Room orange had been hir work. S/he had
believed that it would please the Captain, and did not understand the anger
Torn was displaying. In response to this incident, Torn appointed the EEH
and Bart the Bartender as Glitch's caretakers -- in effect, he made them hir
parents. Not programmed to be a mother, the EEH quickly took her distance,
but Bart took up the challenge.

As the Starfleet crew on the convoy vessels and on the Atlantis struggle to
keep the convoy running and to solve any problems, the launch date
approaches... The time is at hand for the convoy to leave their current
position and head for Helteka.

Public Relations Status Reports April and May 2006, by Rob Versteegt.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
=/\=PR Status Report April 2006=/\=

This month has certainly been more active than last month. We had a total of
14 signups in April... some of which were pretty good. In fact, a couple of
those signups have already started playing on one of our dutystations.

Now... where did those signups find us?

7: Google, or any other search-engine.
2: Been a member before.
5: Via voting sites, PR ads, etc.

Of course PR hasn't been doing nothing this (last) month. I've made sure
that several voting sites which did not display us anymore, do so again. So
feel free to vote again, and don't forget to rate us at those voting sites!
You already know the place where you can vote, of course, but that won't
stop me from repeating it over and over again! :P

http://www.frontierfleet.net/comm/vote

Tadaa! Have fun voting! :D

=/\=Public Relations Status Report, May 2006.=/\=

15 Signups this month. That's more than last month, since last month we had
14. Okay, there were some double, and triple signups by the same player, and
okay, it's not as impressive as having 30 signups per month, like we did in
the 'good old days'... but at least it's better than nothing. We do still
get our influx of players, just... not a lot of it. So that brings me to the
traditional call to all of you to vote for Frontier Fleet at
www.frontierfleet.net/comm/vote. By voting, you really help the game!

Here's where those 15 (or, if I just look at the amount of players, only 11)
signups found us:

2: Surfing the net
5: Google, or another search engine.
2: Via a voting site.
1: Via a friend.
1: Via an advertisement site.

And that's it for now. If anyone has any ideas on how to increase the number
of signups, please let me know! If you're the person whose idea causes more
people to come to FF, you'll be named in one of these reports! And who
wouldn't want that! :P

Legendary Post, by Rob Verlinden.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

For all readers who missed the monthly legendary post: It's back!!

This time I dusted off an amazing post by Adrian during the mission on Delta
One in October 2002. A time-rift opened and a TOS-era ship appeared near the
station. At the end of the mission the timline was distorted completely.
Klingons, Cardassians, Kazon and Romulans appeared and attacked Delta One.
As an ending for the plot Adrian just blew up Delta One, suggesting these
events never took place.

Subject: CO Jennifer Su

(Delta One - Bridge - 2390.11.28, 1457)

"We have shields," someone put in suddenly.

Jennifer turned to face the officer who had spoken. She had to wipe the
tears from her eyes before she could see him.
"Transfer all available power to the shields," she said grimly. "Target the
most aggressive Cardassian ship. Disable its weapons and defences. . ."

"Yes, Ma'am. . . The Romulans are hailing us!"

"Put them onscreen!" she ordered.

The two Romulan officers appeared once more before her. This time, however,
there was smoke drifting in front of them, and frantic voices could be heard
in the background.

"Tell your starship to cease fire!" the Romulan woman snapped. For her to
raise her voice, she truly had to be desperate, Jennifer thought. . .

"Not until you do," the young Captain retorted firmly. Behind her, a console
in a wall erupted with a shower of sparks. Fortunately, no one had been
working at it. . .

The Romulan leaned forward, her lips twisting into a snarl. "The
Cardassians. . . refuse. . . to LISTEN! You must show a gesture of
goodwill!"

Jennifer gave a sad smile.
"Oh, please. Don't underestimate me THAT much. It's insulting."

A flicker of panic flashed through the Romulan's eyes, replaced almost
immediately with grim resolution. "I assure you, Captain, this time I'm not
trying to deceive you. I will listen to what you have to say. But if I
betray my allies- "

On the bridge of the Romulan ship, someone screamed. An explosion of flames
and debris slammed into the two officers from one side, knocking them down.
The transmission was filled with static. . . then ended abruptly.

=^= Harris to Delta One! Status of the Gagarin, Klingons and whatever else
the hell is out there! =^=

"They'll be towed towards the rift soon, with all crew on board. . . I
hope." A nod from Ensign Azyian confirmed that. "And it looks as though
you've knocked the Romulans out of the fight. . . How is the Calhoun doing?"

(reply Harris)

At that point, another hail interrupted them, and the viewscreen displayed
the inside of Hart's shuttle. "Captain," Chris stated, "we are on our way to
the Klingon ship. We will attempt to sling shot it into the fissure. . ."
She just looked at the carnage around the Captain.

Jennifer swallowed hard. How could she explain to Chris. . .

She looked into her eyes, and knew that she had understood.

"The Calhoun and us will keep the Cardassians off your backs," was what she
actually said. "And we'll keep a transporter lock on you. Just. . . in case.
. ."

"Understood Captain. We might need one of those fresh Kazon ships to defend
us."

"I'm sure they'll do all they can to help." She paused. Then she managed to
get the words out. "Dawn is dead. I'm. . . sorry. She had a warrior's
death."

"Aye Captain," Chris said sadly.

Jenny nodded, her pain all too visible in her eyes, then the transmission
was ended.

"Commander?" she called after a second or so.

(reply Harris)

"If the station is destroyed, I want you to get out of here. Don't stay
around to avenge us, is that clear? Jump to transwarp, go to Earth, or maybe
to Talax, but stay alive. And tell Starfleet what happened here."

(reply Harris)

"That's an order," she said, but there was no anger in her voice. Weariness,
maybe. Sadness. Pride in her crew. That, and a few other feelings, seeming
so faint, so distant now. . . "If we die, I want to know you're going to
carry out my last order."

(reply Harris)

"Engineering! How are we doing transferring emergency power to those
shiel-"Shields are down!" Azyian shouted.

Jennifer looked up, straight at the viewscreen, and straight at half a dozen
torpedoes racing through space, straight towards Delta One.

She straightened, and fought down the hideous feeling of fear and hatred
boiling up within her. Her crew was going to die. Her baby, her tiny,
defenceless baby. . .

"You've been a fine crew," she choked out, putting her hand on her stomach
as though in a last, futile gesture of love and comfort. "HeglumeH Qaq jaj-"

Delta One exploded, a massive detonation of fire, light and burning debris,
spraying molten metal and vaporised matter all around. For a brief second,
the void which had been a space station burned bright, then the cold
emptiness settled once more, and nothing remained but drifting scraps of
hull, charred parts and pieces of corpses. . .

Nearby, the creature rift closed, and disappeared.
