Chief Editor's Notes:
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello all you Frontier Fleet people! Glad to see that you're reading the
newspaper again. And what a newspaper we have for you this month! As usual,
there are all these status reports, posting stats, and that sort of thing...
but that's not all! No, also included is a competition! Want to know more
about that? Check the 'competition' part of this newspaper!

Also, on popular request (actually, Guido told me that it might be a good
idea to do this... thanks Guido!) I also added a list of the articles
present in this newspaper. That way, you know which articles there are, and
which you want to read. (Which is all of them... right? :P) (Note: this is
just in the mailedition: in the webedition, it's easy to see which articles
are placed there. ;-) )

The Newspaper competition! By Rob Versteegt.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello all you fellow Frontier Fleet people! In order to make the newspaper a
bit more enjoyable, I've added a Newspaper Competition. In order to win,
you'll have to answer the following questions correctly. Of course, you can
find the answers to those questions in this newspaper. Have fun!

Question 1: How many articles are there in this month's newspaper? (Without
the Chief Editor's Notes.)

Question 2: Who wrote the Valkyrie October Status Report?

Question 3: At what Stardate does the Calhoun mission 'Change of Mind' take
place?

Question 4: In what system is the planet Helteka?

Question 5: Name three Starfleet Officers who were captured by Pirate
Captain Lewis.

Question 6: What was the name of the person who disturbed the talk between
STC Jaal and Police officer Cluff?

Question 7: What happened to the Brunhilde?

Question 8: Who created the YouTube video which brought in one signup?

Question 9: How many posts did Bram have on the Atlantis?

Question 10: What is the Rustaag?

Please mail your answer to chiefeditor at frontierfleet.com, before December
10th. The winners will be rewarded a special... uhm... commendation? Ah
well, let's just say that they'll be mentioned in the newspaper. What
honour! So please, everyone, give it a try! :D

Good luck!

USS Calhoun Status Report, October 2006, by Adrien Rodd.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

STARDATE: 2392.10.16
LOCATION : docked at Pandora Station
EPISODE: #27 (2.01), "Change of Mind"

After failed attempts to communicate their predicament to the crew of
Pandora Station, the Calhoun personnel are finally returned to normal when
powerful aliens explain their condition was the "prank" of an alien child. .

--------------------------------------------------------------------
USS Odyssey Status Report, October 2006, by Rob Verlinden.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Stardate: 2392.10.17
Location: On Andor / near Wolf System

The USS Odyssey, in search for the pirates, sent out a message to all
vessels in the vicinity in order to find information on the whereabouts of
the Celestial Dagger. Leonard Montgomery, captain of a small freighter
vessel, responded and offered his help. He was invited onboard of the
Odyssey. The same message from the Odyssey was also picked up by Ferengi
trader Yok and his son Kels. They had managed to locate the Celestial Dagger
and wanted the pirates to be caught by the Federation. Because normal
communications wouldn't reach the Odyssey, they sent out a distress call.

Captain Lewis decided to get rid of the canister with the viral pathogen on
an M-Class planet, after she found out about its contents. However, Yok
beamed down to the planet and when captain Lewis didn't want to trade the
canister, the Ferengi stunned her and took the pathogen. He dragged the
canister into a nearby forest where he could hide. The captured Starfleet
officers (Harmondale, Termal, Gatto and 2 others) together with 2 pirates
(James and Rick) were sent out to find Yok and the pathogen canister. The
Celestial Dagger returned to orbit where it opened fire on the Ferengi
shuttle.

Meanwhile the away-team on Andor were offered help from an Andorian woman.
She provided access to a shuttle where the Federation team could hide. After
being unsuccessful to find any evidence against politician Drelev or
advancing to free Bennek & Caltek from the holding cell, they came up with a
plan to alter the appearances of Jyll, Nerell and Graves. Looking like
Andorians they could enter the government building to find more information
and free their captain.

USS Valkyrie Status Report, October 2006, by Dennis Church.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

(] STARDATE [)

Predominantly 2392.10.12 or 2392.10.11, but also started posting at
2392.10.19.

(] LOCATION [)

Valkryie - Te'Har System
PaRel/Schofield - Canok Nor

(] SUMMARY [)

The away team investigating the duckblind installation have been unable to
find any faults with the facility, and as such no reason as to why the
disease has managed to get in and affect the observers. After searching
through some of the personal logs, Ensign Alvarez has stumbled upon a
somewhat concerning possibility. She suspects that one of the observers may
have become intimate with a member of the Te'Hari population and become
pregnant, also becoming infected in the process. Doctor MacKenzie has begun
to look into the matter.

Lieutenant T'Cal has led an ill-fated mission aboard the Brunhilde. The
Delta Flyer craft become lost within an ion storm and crashed on the surface
of the planet. With her were Lieutenant Fletcher and Ensign Masters. Whilst
thy have survived the crash, the crew onboard the Valkyrie are unaware of
the away team's status - fearing that all three lived may have been claimed,
whilst stilling holding onto hope.

On Canok Nor, ex-Starfleet officers X'oX PaRel and Emile Schofield continue
with the mission assigned to them by Starfleet intelligence.

USS Atlantis Status Report, October 2006, by Ben Versteegt.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Stardates:

- 2392.07.14
- 2392.07.15
- 2392.07.28

Locations of the (crew of the) USS Atlantis:

- In Deasian space, approximately 1,7 light years away from the planet
Helteka in the Andari system, in the Gamma Quadrant, at a position roughly
1000 light years from the wormhole.
- The planet Helteka
- Pandora Station.

Summary:

- 2392.07.14:

The Freedom Fighter ship 'Valour' exploded in a large array of flames,
enveloping not only the Atlantis, but also the installation which generated
the subspace distortion field that the pirates had set up to prevent the
convoy from warping away from danger. The Atlantis suffered quite some
damage, and several members of the crew passed out, including Captain Torn.

But the trouble was far from over. With its shields down and its weapons
barely functioning, the Atlantis was a tempting target for the surviving
Freedom Fighters. They attacked. This time, the Atlantis did not stand much
of a chance. Fortunately, many convoy ships, which were no longer bothered
by pirate vessels, came to the Starship's aid, and together the convoy and
the Atlantis quickly forced the remaining Freedom Fighters to retreat. The
convoy and the Atlantis were safe again. The long and arduous process of
repairing the damage could begin.

On board the Jatmey, meanwhile, Doctor Kadar's injuries turned out to be
quite severe. She had been immobilised by the medical staff in order to
minimise any further damage, and would be transported to the Atlantis when
communication was restored again. Unfortunately, that might take a while.

The L'tari 39, the Nilav, meanwhile flew back to what was left of the
Remember Edan to pick up Captain Jomorr and the small team he had
infiltrated the engine room of the Edan with. They had managed to deactivate
the Edan's overloading warp core at the last possible second,
averting an explosion which would not only have destroyed the Edan, but the
Nilav as well.

Meanwhile, back in the Alpha Quadrant, a future member of the Atlantis crew
waited for the Atlantis to pick her up on Pandora Station. This Ensign, by
the name of Alandri Dane, occupied her time by going to the holosuite on the
station.

- 2392.07.15:

The following day the various crews were still in the process of repairing
their ships or patching up their wounded. The battle had been won, but the
convoy still had to get to Helteka. While engineering worked on the repairs,
Ensign Vil contacted various L'tari vessels to get an update on their damage
reports, and the EMH continued to patch up the many injured Starfleet or
Deasian crewmembers who stopped by his sickbay. Among them was Doctor Kadar,
who was transported from the Jatmey to the Atlantis when communications
between those two vessels had been re-established.

Also in sickbay was Ensign Gambit, who had passed out after hitting the
floor in a pirate attack the day before. When he woke up the following day,
still half dreaming, he attacked a medic, thinking the latter was a Borg.
Gambit subsequently realised what he had done and talked to the EMH about
his half-Klingon nature.

Another patient in Sickbay was Captain Torn. The Captain had been standing
too close to the engineering console when it exploded in his face the day
before, and shrapnel from the explosion had caused damage to his face and
his eyes. Due to extensive damage to his optic nerve, Captain Torn was now
faced with the fact that he was blind -- perhaps even permanently. Only time
will tell whether he will be able to see again.

Still on Pandora Station, Alandri Dane, meanwhile, is blissfully unaware of
the dangers her future shipmates have faced.

- 2392.07.28

Finally, after many days of travelling, the convoy reached the planet
Helteka in the Andari system. Most damage to the Atlantis and the surviving
convoy ships has been repaired or at least by-passed, and now it is time to
unload the cargo and give the Heltekans the supplies they need so badly. The
mission, finally, is coming to an end.

Stardates:

2392.09.20
2392.09.23
2392.09.24
2392.10.16

Summary:

2392.09.20:

Lieutenants Ta'agk and Moineau were still busy with repairing the faulty
phaser coil. However, this quickly resulted into an air-ballet...

2392.09.23:

Yalon Marg confessed to the love of his life, Melissa Kinnard, that he loved
her. The girl didn't seem to return her love, though, leaving Yalon
heartbroken, in the turbolift.

2392.09.24:

STC Jaal and ACMO Vok got to know each other a little better: but will this
friendship turn out to be just another friendship, or the beginning of
something more? Vok didn't know, and that was what troubled him: the
memories of his relationship with Jessica Truesdale were too fresh on his
mind.

2392.10.16:

On the USS Calhoun, Captain Denorian and Captain Kane were confronted with
even more 'weird' behaviour from the Calhoun crew. Denorian decided to take
over command of the Calhoun if this behaviour wouldn't stop, and thus
invited Admiral Khatibi to join him on the Bridge of the Calhoun. There, the
two were witnesses of a very curious happening: everyone was changed back to
their original bodies, by some sort of alien. Apparently, the entire Calhoun
crew had switched bodies, somehow. When all of that was over, Captain
Denorian and Admiral Khatibi had a discussion about Commander Summers, and
her ability to command. . .

Also, on Pandora Station, STC Jaal met up with Police Officer Cluff, to
discuss a crime that had happened not too long ago. However, Reporter
Charles Neumann interrupted them, curious about what was happening.
Obviously, he was looking for a story. . .

Public Relations Status Report, October 2006, by Rob Versteegt.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, on the bright side, there were 15 signups this month! Which is quite
something, if you consider last month's 12 signups. Okay, not too much, but
I have to make the positive news look absolutely great, since the
not-so-positive news is... well, not so positive.

Here goes: sure, there were 15 signups, but only 9 people who actually
signed up. Indeed, there were a couple of double, triple, quadruple or
quintiple signups. Alas. But that's how it goes. Let's hope for more signups
next month!

Here's where those people who signed up, found us:

4: Google or another search engine.
1: via the youtube video! (Thanks Martin! :D)
2: via a voting or advertising link.
1: Just browsing the net.
1: via a friend.

And that's it for this month! Hope to see more signups next month.

Regs,
Your PR chief,
Rob.

PS:
Hah, you didn't think I'd forget to ask you to vote, now did you! Go vote at

And that's it. ;-) Congrats!

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you know...?, by Rob Versteegt.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Did you know...?

>From the USS Calhoun:

- That after the death of her husband, the Captain of the USS Calhoun,
Captain Sarin, has found affection and love with the Calhoun's braindamaged
Engineer, Ms. Roberts, who had lost a lover as well. That should produce
quite some interesting conversations. . . Roberts: "Why don't you tell me
that you love me?" Sarin: "But I did already! You just forgot."
- That all the crew of the Calhoun have been switched back to their own
bodies, except one pair? They seemed to like it in each others' bodies. I
wonder what will happen if they decide they don't like this body either. . .
- That STC Lorvok, the half-Vulcan, half-Betazoid Starfleet Officer, has
returned to the Calhoun? After being declared dead, even. He was the
aforementioned lover of Lieutenant Chris Roberts, who is now dating the
Captain. Wow, what a complex love-affairs the Calhoun has! We will continue
to closely monitor the situation, and keep you updated.

>From the USS Odyssey:

- That Commander Jalando continues to be called 'Captain' by visiting
people? And that he doesn't do anything to correct these people? Sure,
Jalando is in command of the Odyssey, since Captain Bennek is still trapped
on Andor. But that doesn't mean that Jalando should just continue to let him
be called Captain, while he is not? Unless. . . maybe he has plans to remain
Captain?
- That Captain Bennek still hasn't been rescued by the Away Team, who have
been on Andor for about two days already? One might think that they don't
*want* to safe the Captain. Maybe 'Captain' Jalando promised them promotions
if they'd fail to rescue Bennek?
- That the Away Team on Andor is now guilty of stealing, impersonating
government officials, espionage, and negligence of duty (the aforementioned
failure to rescue Captain Bennek up to now)? I would think that when they
return, whatever awaits them will not be a promotion. Quite the opposite,
probably.
- That the new ACMO, Ms. Etxdon-Davison, has been welcomed to the Odyssey by
a Ferengi taking her hostage? Quite a welcome, wouldn't you agree?

>From the USS Valkyrie:

- That the Prime Directive just seems to be a couple of words to some of the
crew? After all, Lieutenant T'Cal and Ensign Masters, who have crashed on
the surface of a pre-warp planet, made contact with an alien boy, to whom
they explained everything. In fact, they even let the boy bond with Masters
in the 'Rustaag', the Klingon Bonding ceremony.
- That Captain Denebris and First Officer Byrne had a little argument about
General Order 15? Indeed, Captain Denebris wants to lead the Away Team to
the planet surface, while Byrne wanted to be the one to lead it. But wasn't
it also true that Starfleet had specifically forbidden Denebris to send down
an Away Team? Well, technically, the Captain is following orders: he's not
*sending* an Away Team down: he's *leading* it. That's completely different.
Right?

>From the USS Atlantis:

- That Captain Torn's near-blindness is no reason for him to step down from
Command for a while? One would think that if he's unable to see anything
clearly, he'd be unfit to command the Atlantis. But well, since they also
have a helmsman who is nearly blind -We're of course talking about Mr.
Singh- maybe the Captain thinks that it's alright to stay in command. . .
- That Doctor Kadar is developing deeper feelings for the EMH? While the
EMH, of course, does not really like the CMO, since she treated him like. .
. well, like a Hologram, shutting him down like that! Of course, he *is* a
hologram, so no harm there.
- That the USS Atlantis crew got a medal for being accomplices in Mass
Murder?

>From Pandora Station:

- That very little is happening at Pandora Station? Although it is
interesting to tell that Yorban Marg's a suspect of the police, and the new
STC. . .

And that's all for now folks. Join me next time, when more juicy rumours are
uncovered!
